The Minister of National Security indicated that that T&T in now a net importer of illegal drugs. While I understand the geo-structural problems that exist and our relative lack influence over those external factors I think we should attack the problem from the demand side and strengthen the state's security apparatus to control the inflow of drugs, arms and ammunition.

The much touted 360 degree radar has arrived but I am told is periodically switched off. This is added to the fact that there is a lack training for the personnel who utilize this equipment. In 2010 the Ministry must address this problem with urgency.
