Youth Development is the Key
« on: January 14, 2010, 08:22:28 PM »
Youth Development is the only way forward for Trinidad and Tobago to be sucessful at the next level.Mr Warner spent millions on his Joe Public Club,if he would spend half of that on a youth Development program Trinidad would be better for it.It is also important for coaches to be educated; Many coaches who coach kids are not qualified. Trinidad and Tobago celebrated 100yrs of Football, yet there isn't a philisophy of coaching. Jamaica have gone ahead of us,they have a National Coaches Association.. when will we lead the way?

Cost Rica is three goals better than us but we were able to come away wih a draw in a warm up match.I guess what Mr Shabazz is suggesting that his team did quite well to hold off a better team.Costa Rica is a Concacaf team and we should be able to play with them on their level. We need to evaluate our youth development system and make it better.Maybe we could find out what countries like Costa Rica,Mexico and Brazil are doing and implement something. These countries have limited financial resources yet they are consistently better than us.

Yes i agree Youth development is the way to go,but do we have the patience to wait on Youths to develop,we still want to be at or qualify for every major tournament and WC,our Youths are not developing fast enough for the demands of World Soccer today, our resources are limited not enough are taking the game seriously.
We have been trying National Coaches Assoc for years even way back when i was home, our problem is Coaches don't want to unite,it's an ego thing, the who better than who mentality, so everybody protecting their own turf, you ever notice when there is a course only certain people does know and it's the same people all the time. It's the same problem with players why we can't have a Players Assoc,i guess it's a T&T problem.

You must be mistaken with this statement. How could you make such a statement! Look at the structure of football in those three countries. Mexico, Brazil & Costa Rica not only have financial resources, but they have significant financial resources for football. Just as a matter of interest to you Mexico and Brazil are ranked in the top 20 richest countries on earth.

Aye Coops,
Good assessment. I find our players do take longer to mature. Our football structure has yet to resolve this issue. Cool breds!!!!

By the way countries like brazil and mexico live and breathe football its one of the most most important things they have. Its their religeon .... we dont have that here in trinidad
Thats why those countries will always be better than us they care more about the game as a whole country than we do

There needs to ba a total overhaul of fotball in Trinidad and Tobago and thsi starts with the Administration and their relationship with the Government. For such a small nation the Government has to play a pivotal part in the development of the sport. The divide between the Gov't and the TTFF is by far the biggest problem in our football at every level.

The reason it seems likethe local players take a long time to develop is because they don't get into the correct football coaching structures until late in their teens.

There is talent and potential in T&T but if we were to revamp and start over it will take time to bear fruit and everyone needs to be patient for it to happen. Lack of patience is also one of our problems.

I think everybody knows what the solution to our Football is but implementing it is the problem, don't matter what we do from the time our national teams play everything does go right out the door because unless we don't win nothing we doing is right.

We does limit our focus on just a few players too much,it's dis courageing for players who not in that pool to want to aspire to make it because there are no incentives, how are players to improve if they don't get the opportunities,we too quick to call players shithound and right them off, where are we to find good players to develop?we have to develop what we have.

The best place for development of our Footballers is Minor league Football, check and see how many of our players come out of an Academy, where it is we learn to play the game, develop our skills etc etc this is where we all came from.

Looking at the home page. 500 players screened for National U15. Why is there a need to continuously screen so many players at this age level when there is school and club football for this purpose.

Is there currently a National teams at the U11-U14?

Coache you are right though. Implementation is the biggest problem at almost every level in Trinidad
