Clear lack of experience in these situations for VEN ... and there was no question of subbing the kpr prior to the kicks. Great showing on the world stage nonetheless!!!!  :applause: :applause: :applause:

Could be ... but there are other options from the main page ... @ 19:00

Unless Spain comes with something extra-special, JPN is going to be an attacking spectacle.

Watched most of the first half.

The TTFA maybe, just maybe, need to take a  peek at Venezuela program.

Like Japan on both sides of the ball ... also like that Spain is not panicking when they do get the ball & are trying to move it rather than long ball it

With a bit of width SPN might have a chance at penetrating, but they are not springing Laura free on the left ... JPN is very organized and will likely pounce from the second half whistle.

The Spanish keeper has made done very big saves when called upon.  Thought Japan should be shooting low far side at times.

Congratulations to Japan. They were just too tough on defense to be penetrated.
Give Spain credit as they never gave up even down two nil.
Enjoyed watching this match

An impressive Venezuela. More sophisticated rendition than Italy.

All match highlights are available here.

Although the comment above doesn't refer to the early round match between both teams, having had a look at that first meeting during the tourney, yuh could say ITA learned from that ... but the CLEAR difference is the absence of the VEN starting GK. VEN likely would have won the bronze medal but for that!

2016 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Thread.
« Reply #167 on: April 16, 2015, 04:50:09 PM »
National U-17 Women's team program takes shape.
By Shaun Fuentes (TTFA).

National Women’s Under 17 team head coach Rajesh Latchoo says that the preparations for the 2016 FIFA Under 17 World Cup qualification is beginning to take shape.

Latchoo has been overseeing the team’s preparations since last October, conducting training sessions three days weekly at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva

The squad includes players who have graduated from the past Under 15 Women’s team that finished a commendable third at the 2014 CONCACAF Under 15 Championship in the Cayman Islands last August. T&T were edged 1-0 by regional giants Canada 1-0 in the semi final before  thumping Honduras 5-2 in the third place playoff.

“This is basically the same team with the exception of a few players from the one that finished third last year in the Cayman Islands, “Latchoo told TTFA Media.

“We’ve kept the squad together and we’ve been training together since last year October with only two breaks for Christmas and Carnival.  We’ve been training three days per week consistently.”

The T&T U-17s recently topped Under 18 Women Division of the Carapichaima Youth Super League which Latchoo said was used to keep the players match fit. The Team will also participate in the Premier Division of the T&T Women’s League (WOLF) which starts next month.

“We had the team playing in the Carapichaima league even though the quality of opposition was not always up to par but we felt it was good to have the players active. We had a some decent challenges in a couple of the matches and we felt it was good to have some of the players from the other teams to have that opportunity to play against a national team and at the same time our girls were able to get consistent match practice,” Latchoo explained

The Caribbean Football Union leg of the World Cup qualifiers is expected to start in July. T&T will be aiming to qualify for the CONCACAF Final stage from which three teams will qualify for the 2016 FIFA Under 17 Women’s World Cup in Jordan.

Assisting Latchoo with the preparations of the team is assistant coaches Damien Daniels and Denise Wickham with Lyndelle Hoyte-Sanchez serving as manager.

The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association also recently commenced the Under 15 Women’s Team program being overseen by Muhammad Isa as they look ahead to the CONCACAF U-15 Women’s Championship. The TTFA will also the women teams involved in the first annual CONCACAF Women’s Football Day in Saturday May 23rd, 2015.

This initiative, which was presented at the CONCACAF “Let’s Develop Women’s Football” seminar held in last October in Philadelphia, will aim to unite all 41 Member Associations to celebrate women’s football throughout the region.

Under-17 women eyeing 2016 WC tournament
By Ian Prescott (Express).

Having already tasted some success, the National Under-17 women are working hard at becoming the first Trinidad and Tobago women’s team to qualify for a FIFA World Cup.

Recent T&T women teams have come close without such success. Both the senior women and National Under-20 squad fell at the final hurdle, when seeking a World Cup spot.

The Under-20s led Costa Rica and were just five minutes from a World Cup spot, until wilting in the closing stages. Likewise, after coming fourth at the CONCACAF Women Championships in 2014, the Women Soca Warriors missed three chances to qualify for the Women’s World Cup, including a 1-0 aggregate loss to Ecuador, for the final spot in this summer’s Canada 2015 tournament. The T&T National Under-17 women are hoping to go a step further.

“The ultimate goal is to qualify for Jordan 2016, which is the girls World Cup tournament,” stated head-coach Rajesh Lachoo, who recently had 30 young ladies through their paces at Ato Boldon Stadium.

“We are preparing for the CFU (Caribbean Football Union) qualifiers which will be held supposedly in July and ultimately the CONCACAF qualifiers,” he continued. “We have been training since last February (2014), for what was then the CONCACAF Under-15 tournament.”

The current Under-17 girls are a spill over from the team which finished a respectable third to Canada and Haiti at the inaugural CONCACAF Under-15 girls tournament, held last year in the (Cayman Islands).

Having put in 175 training sessions, former Joe Public men’s head-coach Lachoo believes the team is stronger than at last year’s CONCACAF tournament. Although finishing third, Lachoo revealed that visa and ticket issues meant he did not carry his best team when finishing third. They have since further strengthened with the addition of an attacking midfielder.

“We have five foreign-based players. They were actually here recently, four of them. They paid for their own tickets and came down,” Lachoo said, USA-born Renah Campbell and Alexis Fortune among them.

“We have played ten practice matches already, and next month we join WoLF (Women League Football) Premier Division competition, so we are probably guaranteed eight games before we go the tournament,” Lachoo said.

Lachoo believes that he has the talent to go to a World Cup, but that the team needs the support of Trinidad and Tobago. With World Cup qualifying soon to begin, Lachoo hope they get better support than when going into last year’s CONCACAF support.

“I hope for the resources, the facilities and all the financial issues settled, and hopefully going forward everything will be in place so that the girls can continue to get the best preparation or even better preparation than we have right now,” he said.

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

For all the criticism that others have gotten for going the opposite direction, hopefully, Amaya and her dad Mark are given positive comments for representing the red, white and black.  Well done Amaya.....

she blanked the US camp to stay with Trinidad,” Lachoo declared. “That shows she is a true Trini, and that is the kind of commitment the team

I will not doubt her commitment to TT. But it is also a pragmatic decision. Good luck  Ms Ellis.

Misleading headline more than anything.  She didn't blank the US.  She just chose to represent trini at this time.  She is not even on the US roster so how could she "blank" them.  Sensational journalism at best......

^^

I am yet to see any foreign born player who represented T&T blank their country of birth. Most times its a case of getting an easier chance to rep T&T as opposed to their home country. Now with that being said I am sure all were committed and gave their best for T&T team but let us be realistic when we claim players actually 'blanked' their country of birth (US, England)

T&T U-17 women to face Venezuela at Manny Ramjohn.
By Shaun Fuentes (TTFA).

TTFA to host Women's grassroots festival on Saturday.

The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association will stage a series of activities commencing at 1pm on Saturday May 23rd, 2015 at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium to as part  of CONCACAF’s Annual Women’s Football Day.

Last month the confederation announced the celebration of its first annual Women’s Football Day. This initiative, which was presented at the CONCACAF “Let’s Develop Women’s Football” seminar held in October 2014, in Philadelphia, will aim to unite all 41 Member Associations to celebrate women’s football throughout the region.

The Women’s Football Day will strive to achieve the distinction of being the first occasion that all of CONCACAF’s members will simultaneously organize a women’s football activity.

Through this initiative, the Confederation aims to accomplish three objectives:

•    Generate awareness about the transformative power of women’s football for girls and women
•    Promote and encourage continued investment in women’s football
•    Unite every Member Association in creating a memorable day of women’s football

The main event of the TTFA Women’s Day will be a match between this country’s National Women’s Under 17 Team and Venezuela’s National Under 17 Team at the Marabella venue from 3pm.

The TTFA will also have several local women coaches on site to conduct coaching drills with students of various Primary Schools from seven districts. This will be part of the TTFA’s grassroots festival on the day

The coaches involved will include Janelle Noel, Jinelle Nedd, Senior Team Women players Dernelle Mascall, Ayana Russell, Khadidra and Khadisha Debesette as well as Desiree Sarjeant, Joanne Daniel and National Under 17 Women’s Team head coach Rajesh Latchoo.

Three specific activities have been recommended to the Member Associations by CONCACAF which are as follows.

•    Girls Grassroots Festival
•    3 v. 3 or 5 v. 5 Tournament
•    Football Skills Challenge

CONCACAF President Jeffrey Webb commented on the initiative, saying; “It is crucial for CONCACAF to continue the advancement of women’s football while developing grassroots programs and continue achieving major victories.

"

“My vision was and remains the same -- that every man, woman and child passionate about football has the opportunity to access our beautiful game and develop their skills in order to reinforce CONCACAF’s position in the global arena.”

“As we embrace a new era in women’s football, we aim to further develop the talents of female players in our Confederation and will continue to empower the women’s game through initiatives such as this one.”

Admission to Saturday’s match between T&T and Venezuela is Free to the Public.

How can Venezuela afford to come to T&T and play so many games for such a long period of time? Yet our teams can't go to Tobago for 1 day? Absolutely amazing.
