Jorge Murrillo of Colombia produced the fastest-ever swim on Trinidad and Tobago soil in the 200-metre breaststroke on Day Two of the ASATT Open Long Course Invitational on Friday at Marlins’ Olympic-size pool in Westmoorings.
Murrillo was the highlight among seven Colombian wins on the first night of finals.
Swimming out of lane four, Murrillo produced a blistering 2:26.18, just going under the open national record of Paul Newallo set in 1987 of 2:26.33. Murrillo was followed by Miko Cruz of UTT (2:36.72), while the bronze went to Jason Rodriguez of Marlins in 2:37.62.
