Well, I suppose if they can't get Balotelli...

Ghana FA keen on Kevin Prince Boateng switch

Ghana includes Boateng on World Cup roster

Injured Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien has been included on Ghana’s preliminary 30-man World Cup roster along with Inter Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari and Portsmouth midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng, who has never played for the Black Stars.

Essien injured a hamstring playing for Chelsea on Dec. 8, returned to appear for Ghana in the African Cup of Nations, then hurt his right knee in training with the Black Stars on Jan. 17. He has not played since.

Sunderland defender John Mensah, sidelined for much of the season by a calf injury, also was picked by Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac.

Boateng also managed to knock Michael Ballack -- who happens to play for one of Ghana's first round opponents -- out of the World Cup with a tackle in the FA Cup final. This is a man on a mission, folks!  ;D

Boateng apology for Ballack

Portsmouth midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has issued an apology to Michael Ballack for the challenge which shattered his World Cup dreams.

Germany captain Ballack has been ruled out of the tournament in South Africa this summer after Boateng's crunching tackle during Saturday's FA Cup final between Pompey and Chelsea left him with an ankle injury.

Boateng, who will represent Germany's group rivals Ghana in South Africa this summer, says he has offered his apologies to Ballack a number of times.

Ballack's agent needs to put a lid on it regarding the litigation option.

Kevin-Prince Boateng in Ghana squad
Email Print Share

Kevin-Prince Boateng has been included in Ghana's 23-man squad for the World Cup finals.

Berlin-born Boateng played for Germany at every level up to and including under-21, but he recently opted to switch his allegiance to Ghana after becoming frustrated with a lack of opportunities under Joachim Low.

And he survived the cull which saw coach Milovan Rajevac reduce his squad from 30 players to the required 23.

Stephen Adams, Eric Addo, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, Laryea Kingston, Haminu Draman and Bernard Kumordzi were the men to miss out.

Boateng's inclusion sets up a tasty encounter against Germany in Johannesburg on June 23.

The Portsmouth midfielder recently came in for criticism for a heavy challenge on Germany captain Michael Ballack in the FA Cup final which led to the Chelsea star being ruled out of the tournament with an ankle injury.

The match against Germany could also see Boateng come up against his half-brother Jerome, who plays for Hamburg.

Ghana were dealt a blow last week when it was confirmed key midfielder Michael Essien had been ruled out due to knee and ankle injuries which saw him miss the majority of the Barclays Premier League season with Chelsea.

Ghana and Germany are joined in Group D by Serbia and Australia.

The Ghana squad is: Richard Kingson, Daniel Agyei, Stephen Aholu; John Paintsil, John Mensah, Samuel Inkoom, Hans Adu Sarpei, Rahim Ayew, Lee Addy, Isaac Vorsah, John Mensah; Kwadwo Asamoah, Anthony Annan, Sulley Muntari, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Quincy Owusu-Abeyie, Stephen Appiah, Andre Ayew, Derek Boateng; Asamoah Gyan, Prince Tagoe, Dominic Adiyiah, Matthew Amoah.

Soccer Star Jérôme Boateng's Ex-Girlfriend Kasia Lenhardt Found Dead Days After Their Breakup
Mike Vulpo
Wed, February 10, 2021, 1:30 PM

Soccer star Jérôme Boateng's model ex-girlfriend Kasia Lenhardt has passed away at the age of 25.

According to Bild, who cited the Berlin police, the former contestant of Germany's Next Top Model was found dead in a home on Tuesday, Feb. 9.

"Yesterday at around 8.30 p.m., there was a police operation in Charlottenburg on suspicion of suicide," Berlin police told the German publication. "A lifeless person was found in the home. There are no indications of third-party negligence."

Model Sara Kulka later confirmed the news of Kasia's passing with a post on Instagram.

"Rest in peace," she wrote via translation. "You wonderful person, I miss you and would have loved to say goodbye. I hope you find your peace now and I hope the truth comes out now, I know how much you wished it would. I will never forget you, I don't know anyone who could laugh like you. I send a lot of strength to the family."

At this time, Berlin police are not treating Kasia's death as suspicious.

Just days before her death, Kasia experienced a public breakup with her ex, Jérôme. In fact, the Bayern Munich defender confirmed their split in a since-deleted Instagram note on Feb. 2.

"We will go our separate ways from now on," Jérôme's post read via The Mirror. "That is regrettable, but for my family and for me it is the only right one. I had to take this step and draw a line. I apologize to everyone I've hurt especially with my ex-girlfriend Rebecca and our children. I am disappointed in myself too. A man has to take responsibility and act in the interests of his family and I'm doing it now. I wish Kasia all the best."

Jérôme has twin girls from his relationship with an ex-fiancée. As for Kasia, she also was a mom to a son from a previous relationship.

As Jérôme takes a break from playing soccer at Bayern Munich's camp, many followers can't help but reflect on Kasia's recent social media activity.

In her last post on Instagram before her death, Kasia shared one final message to her followers. "Now is where you draw the line," she wrote. "Enough."

If you or someone you know needs help, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.
