the sad fact is the the opposition "unity" has no goal other than unseating the govt added to that they(unc) continue to shoot themselves in the foot with panday's bratty stunts and kamla's unwillingness/inability to reign him in, if she doesn't truly have dat party then the unified front will not last, and this time may not get off the ground atall

an ego maniacal, self important prick or ah weakling.....being undermined by an ego maniacal, self important prick................decisions, decisions ??? :( :'(

Voice of the People rally a success
Saturday 27th March, 2010

The passion of the people was felt at the UNC's Voice of the People Rally today.

Speakers voiced their frustrations at the current PNM administration, calling for change.

But two speakers cried out for petty differences to be put aside calling for real unity in the country.

Once again, an assembly of leaders is calling for the removal of the current administration.

Some even took a humorous approach.

Two speakers chose to rise above the political differences and called for unity among the people of Trinidad and Tobago.

NJAC chief servant Makandal Daaga asked if we had learned anything from the 1970s revolution. He recalled the march to Caroni where he said people opened their doors to total strangers because they saw beyond race or creed. They saw only human beings.

The rally was a strong show of unity of opposition forces. Rubadiri Victor, Stephen Cadiz, and David Abdullah were also feature speakers.

i heard suruj say about 20,000 strong ::)

I WON'T GO QUIETLY
Rowley to Manning
Ria Taitt Political Editor
Monday, March 29th 2010

Responding to the Prime Minister’s call to the party to submit nominations for a general election, controversial Diego Martin West MP Dr Keith Rowley has signaled that he intends to submit his name as a candidate.

Rowley, who was in Barbados and missed the party’s special convention on Saturday, spoke with the Express via phone from Barbados yesterday, one day after Prime Minister Patrick Manning, his political leader, called for nominations for candidates for the general election. Screening of candidates begins on April 7.

Many feel that a general election signals the political end of Rowley’s career as a PNM MP... more... http://www.trinidadexpress.com/index.pl/nart?id=161616970

The thing about this if the UNC win then the fighting in the party will begin between themselves ,that would be worse than what we have right now .

With the current murder rate at 1.2 p/d the estimated death toll will be 464 for 2010 in Trinidad and Tobago. Over 4k by 2020.... de PNM will keep rolling on...

TnT is so hedonistic so the PM catering for that... place to have arts... nice buildings... summits.... we showing people we have it nice... yet Sando does look like shyte..... 2020 my arse because a lot of places in trinidad looking like 1920... no water, food prices high, farmers ketching arse, etc..... All Pnm have to do is throw a couple fete, give a lil hand out and some ear candy and PNMites will stain that finger for no other...

The current PNM and UNC is both circuses...

PM blanks Gray-Burke
Kristy Ramnarine
Monday, March 29th 2010
Source: http://www.trinidadexpress.com/index.pl/nart?id=161617082

Prime Minister Patrick Manning has turned down an invitation by Archbishop Barbara Gray-Burke to attend this year’s Spiritual Shouter Baptist Liberation Day celebrations.

Gray-Burke, a former UNC senator, said she sent an invitation to Manning sometime in January but was informed that he would be unable to attend.

She has also had no success in meeting with the Prime Minister to discuss the proposed primary school in Maloney.

’Last year when we met with him he said he have no money because of the recession,’ she said on Saturday.

’I feel deeply hurt when I see a Pentecostal church being built ( at the Heights of Guanapo) and there are no approvals. We have all the approvals and we can’t get the funding. I feel he should have appreciated us but he has sidelined us.

’I wrote him in January about this year’s holiday and asked him to attend and his secretary said he is unable to attend. I’ve been trying to get an audience with him to discuss the school as well, but have not gotten any feedback on that. I never did him anything and I don’t know why he treating me so.’

There are many things I can say about the honourable PM, but reading this thread there is one thing that stands out. The man is a brilliant political strategist.. Given the devaluation of the PNM stock what better time to call an election, than when he is still seen as the less of two evils, before public mistrust of the opposition is replaced by public outcry against his leaderhip or some may say lack there off. (guess 5 more years is better than 3)

Personally I really don't want an election right now, because no party has presented itself as a viable alternative. The PNM will be reelected and the whole election be unneeded public expenditure. The only possible positive outcome would be the final nail in the silver fox coffin, that is if public sentiment prevails, we will have to wait for the Preacher to have his turn.
