tallman i like them picks with hyland and primus. real trini brother hood. two very good young player both from Jab system. tell me what happen to game today?

Genk lorse 2-1. Hyland played de full game.

Next leg in Genk.  Vossen is playing really well, and Genk hit the inside crossbar that would have tied it up.  I think they can pull it off at home!

Liverpool handed tricky draw
August 31, 2012
Press Association

Tottenham and Liverpool were both handed Italian jobs after being paired with Lazio and Udinese in the Europa League group stage draw.

Spurs -- denied a Champions League spot despite finishing fourth in the Barclays Premier League after Chelsea's European Cup triumph -- were placed in Group J, which also contained Greek club Panathinaikos and Maribor of Slovenia.

Three-time winners Liverpool will also face mega-rich Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala and Swiss side Young Boys in Group A. Newcastle was in Group D along with Bordeaux, Club Brugge and Maritimo.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, who watched his side edge past Hearts in the play-off round, said: "The groups have been drawn and we have got a difficult group. It is another step forward for us. European football is brilliant for this club and we look forward to going further in the competition."

Liverpool and Tottenham were both top seeds but were arguably handed tougher groups than Newcastle, which was seeded third ahead of its first European campaign for six years.

Manager Alan Pardew watched the draw live on television with several of his players and told his club's official website, nufc.co.uk: "My gut reaction is that the travelling is good, so I'm pleased about that -- I didn't really want to go to the Ukraine or Russia or anywhere. The teams are of the standard you would expect in Europe so it's a tough-ish group, not the toughest by any means, but not the weakest so it's a test for us."

Meanwhile, Paul Gascoigne has been promised an invitation to Spurs' match at Lazio to celebrate the link he created between the two clubs.

Lazio general manager Maurizio Manzini revealed the former England star, 45, would be approached to attend the game at the Stadio Olimpico. Gascoigne joined Lazio from Spurs in 1992 and almost immediately secured a place in their folklore -- his first goal for the club was a last-gasp equalizer in the Rome derby.

3-0 to Genk. Hyland had a good game.  His passing and supportive positioning were good.  Genk have a good knock.

Benfica have a nice knock, but at times does struggle in games that matter most. This legendary Club need a Trophy & so does their style of play.

Benfica and 'the curse of Bela Guttmann'

http://edition.cnn.com/2012/12/04/sport/football/benfica-bela-guttmann-curse

Quote
"After the second European Cup victory, Guttman approached the recently-elected president Antonio Carlos Cabral Fezas Vital with what seemed an eminently reasonable request -- a pay rise.

"Vital chose to turn Guttman down, whereupon the Hungarian departed with what has become a well-worn parting shot: a simple declaration that Benfica would not win another European Cup.

"Guttman's curse has proved painfully prophetic -- the Aguias have lost five European Cup finals since, in 1963, 1965, 1968, 1988, 1990."

Rafa & Torres sitting down sipping bubbly and yuking it up. Kyak kyak kyak.

Football is really a cruel lover. Benfica was all over Chelsea especially in the first half, but they played with their food and paid the price. Somehow I had a feeling this would happen, having followed Benfica for a few years well.
They always seem to buckle at crucial moments.

Hyland played the whole game in Genk's 5-2 win over H'narfjodur. They won 7-2 on aggregate.
Genk is into the Europa League group stage. Draw tomorrow.

Robert Primus also played the whole game but Aktobe lost 5-1 to Dynamo Kiev and 8-3 on aggregate. They are out.

Spurs face Anzhi in Europa League
By ESPN staff

Tottenham have been drawn against Anzhi Makhachkala and Swansea City will face Valencia in the Europa League group stage.

Spurs -- who reached last season's quarter-final stage where they lost out to Basel -- will also face Sheriff Tiraspol of Moldova and Tromso of Norway in Group K.

The big-spending London side are preparing for life without star player Gareth Bale -- who is expected to join Real Madrid for a world-record transfer fee before the end of the summer transfer window -- but will still be seen as one of the favourites to lift the trophy won by Chelsea last season after entering the draw as one of the top seeds.

Valencia and Swansea are joined in Group A by Russia’s Kuban Krasnodar and St Gallen of Switzerland.

The trip to Valencia will see Swansea's Spain international midfielder Pablo Hernandez return to his former club. Manager Michael Laudrup -- who led the Swans into Europe via their Capital One Cup triumph last term -- and several of his other players will also familiar to Spanish football fans.

Group D contains FA Cup winners Wigan Athletic -- since relegated to the Championship -- along with Rubin Kazan, Maribor and Zulte Waregem.

In Group H, Sevilla -- who enjoyed back-to-back triumphs in the Europa League's forerunner, the UEFA Cup, in 2006 and 2007 -- take on Bundesliga side Freiburg plus Estoril and Liberec of Portugal and the Czech Republic respectively.

French side Lyon, beaten by Real Sociedad in the Champions League play-off, take on another Spanish side, Real Betis, in Group I, along with Portugal's Vitoria de Guimaraes and Croatia's Rijeka.

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.
