Jabloteh still advance on head to head even if bayamon wins

Yes, but if Joe doesn't win with more than 3 goals over whatever Bayamon has, Islanders win the cup.

Bayamon just scored 2-1 Bayamon, 53 min

Let's face it, JP is not close to being anything like what W-Connection has been over the past few years. Not withstanding the fact that WC is now a shadow of their old selves, they have a better overall track record in these type of games than JP.

WC has played the Islanders at least twice for the CFU title and beat them both times. JP played this team and managed to rescue a draw from the jaws of a JP victory. Later, JP plays a inferior team to the Islanders and loses  ::).

I love JP and I want to see them do good in the CONCACAF championship, but they need to take a big step back and figure out what went wrong.

Islanders win CFU Championship

Puerto Rico Islanders News Release - www.prislandersfc.com

Sunday, May 9, 2010

TUNAPUNA, PR -- The Puerto Rico Islanders made history Sunday as they won the 2010 CFU Club Championship in Trinidad & Tobago.

For the first time in history, a professional football club from Puerto Rico has won a tournament organized by CONCACAF or the Caribbean Football Union (CFU).

The Puerto Rico Islanders beatSan Juan Jabloteh, 1-0, in the first game with a goal from Nicholas Addlery in the 19th minute. With the win, the Islanders finished the CFU Club Championship's Final Round with two wins and a tie for seven points.

In the second game, fellow Puerto Rican side Bayamon FC won, 3-1, against Joe Public to obtain its first victory in the Final Round of the Caribbean championship and in the process left Joe Public in second place with four points and a record of 1-1-1.

San Juan Jabloteh and Bayamon FC both finished with three points with one win and two losses each. The first tiebreaker is the head-to-head record and Bayamon FC lost, 4-1, to San Juan Jabloteh, thus giving the Trinidad club the third spot in the Caribbean tournament.

The three best teams in the 2010 CFU Club Championship earn a place in the 2010-2011 CONCACAF Champions League.

With the championship, the Puerto Rico Islanders became the first professional club that does not belong to the professional football leagues of Trinidad & Tobago or Jamaica to win the tournament. Since 1997, professional teams from Trinidad & Tobago have won the tournament eight times and while Jamaican teams have won three times.

The members of the Puerto Rico Women’s National Football Team, which are in Trinidad & Tobago to play the in the Caribbean’s final qualifying phase to play in the 2010 Women’s Gold Cup next week, were present for both games today, rooting for both Puerto Rican clubs and celebrated with the Puerto Rico Islanders their history-making championship.

Joe Public and San Juan Jabloteh advance to CCL
Monday 10th May, 2010

Despite losing at the final hurdle, both local clubs, Joe Public and San Juan Jabloteh advanced to the CONCACAF Champions League, but only just.

C Sports journalist Ruskin Mark reports that the Puerto Rico islanders deserved the title following their 1-0 win over Jabloteh. but it was most surprising when Bahaman turned back Joe Public 3-1 in the tournament finale.

He missed a moment earlier, but Nicholas Adler made amends here as his header nestles wide of Clean John, and Puerto Rico islanders take the lead after 18-minutes.

Ablate stormed right back, but Guerra's drive is blocked as Hinkson lurked.

But there was no further scoring and the islanders prevailed 1-0 to climb to the top of the standings.

They tightened their grip on the trophy when Alan Acevedo Riana gave fellow Puerto Rican outfit Bahaman a deserved lead in the 8th minute.

Then Marcus Joseph does great work down the right, and Hayden Tinton does equally as well to elude the defenders, but his effort is off target from close range.

Eventually Joe Public would even things up as Tint’s corner is headed home by Roadman Abu Bark. 1-1 after 26-minutes.

But they would miss several chances to take the lead, Kerry Baptist guilty on this occasion. They would fall behind 2-1, then in the 58th minute it was all over as Riana turns provider and skipper Kendall Manley flicks home for a 3-1 cushion for Bahaman.

Then the prolific Baptist would limp off with a hamstring strain, further handicapping an already depleted Joe Public offence.

With Baptist off the field, Joe Public's best chance was from set plays and Bark almost added a second here, but it was not to be and 3-1 it stayed, handing the Puerto Rico islanders the title as Adler and company collected their medals, and eventually got their hands on the coveted Caribbean Club Championship trophy for the first time in their history.

They also made it through to the Conceal Champions League along with Joe Public and Jabloteh as the top three all advanced.
