Trinidad and Tobago sprinter Aaron Armstrong was the class of the field in the men’s 100 metres dash, at the Texas Invite, in Texas, USA, yesterday.

He triumphed in 10.23 seconds, beating American Preston Perry (10.28) into second spot.

Armstrong was back on the track for the 200m, clocking 21.10 for 10th spot overall.

Baylor University freshman, Gavyn Nero just missed out on gold in the men’s 800m. The 19-year-old middle distance runner returned a time of one minute, 49.67 seconds to secure second spot, behind American Joey Roberts (1:49.46).

Nero’s Baylor teammate, Zwede Hewitt finished sixth in section one and ninth overall in the men’s 400m in 46.38 seconds. And Texas Christian University (TCU) junior, Sade-Shari St Louis was 20th in the women’s 400m in 57.16.

At the Jesse Owens Track Classic, in Ohio, University of Kentucky senior Rondell Sorrillo struck gold in the men’s 100m dash. The T&T athlete got to the line in 10.33 seconds.

Penn State University senior Aleesha Barber produced a 13.47 seconds clocking to cop fourth spot in the women’s 100m hurdles. Barber also competed in the 400m hurdles, finishing 14th overall in one minute, 02.56 seconds. And in the women’s 400m flat, Eastern Michigan University (EMU) senior, Shade St Louis was 17th in 56.53 seconds.

Adoniss Jones topped the men’s 110m hurdles field, at the Liberty Twilight meet, in Virginia. The Campbell University student got home in a wind-assisted 14.11 seconds. Jones also competed in the 400m hurdles, clocking 53.64 to finish fourth. And another T&T/Campbell athlete, Desiree John produced a 1:06.07 run for 10th spot overall in the women’s 400m hurdles.
