Ria wins decision

CONGRATULATIONS TO RIA RAMNARINE
April 25, 2010 · Leave a Comment

In what was certainly an entertaining boxing card, patrons got their monenies worth of boxing at the Jean Pierre Sports Complex.

The principal fight between Ria Ramnarine and Etsuko Tada was not diappointing.

Ria was able to show the results of her hard work and training and in some instances outclassed Etsuko.

Certainly Ria demonstrated that she had more stamina and combination punches, particularly upper cuts though they did not  always find their target.

Estuko was not to be out done and showed determination but as the champion her performance was below par.

Ria ended the fight with much more confidence than some of her previous fights and the decision seems fair although there was talk of appealing the decision.

Once again congratulations to Ria and may she continue to train hard and remain focused for the return fight.

Ria inspires Trinity students
Wednesday, May 12 2010

TRINIDAD and Tobago’s top female boxer Ria Ramnarine yesterday continued her programme of meeting young school children.

Her aim is to motivate them with inspirational messages drawing on her experience in the ring and her long and challenging climb to the top of the world boxing ladder.

Ramnarine is currently the WBA Minimum Weight champion. She narrowly missed out on capturing the WBC belt last month against Etsuko Tada of Japan.

Yesterday she was welcomed to Trinity College in Moka, Maraval by teachers Alana Mosca and Michele Watts. The boxer was accompanied by international match-maker and promoter Boxu Potts.

Ramnarine is currently preparing for her next assignment which will position her for a shot at the WBA 105lb championship which is the most prestigious in world boxing.

Ramnarine remains Trinidad and Tobago’s most promising fighter on the women’s boxing stage poised to develop into a world class champion with the help of the astute Potts.

She has in her corner committed sponsors including Ma Pau Private Members Club and the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs who have contributed to her training and preparation for her international bouts.

Tada ducking rematch with Ria says Potts
Published: 18 May 2010
 .
World Boxing Association (WBA) Minimum Weight champion Etsuko Tada is avoiding her mandatory rematch with T&T’s Rai Ramnarine, the WBA Interim champion. The rematch is a contract agreement between the two fighters. This is the view of local match-maker and manager of Ramnarine Boxu Potts. He said Tada’s camp is looking to give the Japanese fighter a voluntary defence before she meets the T&T champion in the rematch in Japan.
