Ma Pau edge Jabloteh; Connection, Public also register victories.
By: Rando Bando (ttproleague).

Ma Pau SC utility player Anthony Wolfe gave his side maximum points against San Juan Jabloteh on Saturday at the Larry Gomes Stadium when he headed home an early item.

Wolfe, a former Jabloteh forward jumped behind the defence to meet Elton John’s freek kick from the left after some poor marking in the 23rd minute, and comfortably headed the ball well wide of goalkeeper Cleon John’s reach and into the net for what turned out to be the match winner.

Ma Pau climbed out of the bottom half of the table following its Round Three Match Day Three result and are in 5th postion with 5 points.

Also making a jump out of the bottom half are defending champions Bmobile Joe Public after registering a 4-1 victory over home team Tobago United at the Dwight Yorke Stadium.

Micah Lewis (29th minute), Trent Lougheed (35th minute), Nigel Daniel (45th minute) and Andre Toussaint (90th minute) all found the back of the net for the Lions, while Tobago’s only item was scored by Raul Chapman in the 65th minute.

The Lions are third in the standings with 5 points, ahead of now fourth positioned North East Stars by goal difference.

Prior to Saturday’s match, Stars held the second spot, but based on results on Saturday W Connection are now holding the position moving up one spot following their 2-1 comeback victory over FC SouthEnd at the Ato Boldon Stadium.

Andrei Pacheco equalized in the 58th minute after SouthEnd held a 32nd minute advantage through Wendell Rennie, but 2010 Brazilian signing Jose Da Silva gave the Stuart Charles Fevrier coached side maximum points with an 87th minute strike.

Connection are three points behind leaders Defence Force (9 points) while Caledonia dropped into sixth with their three points following Saturday’s results.

Back to the feature clash on Saturday, it was hardworking defender Seon Power who earned Ma Pau a free kick from 22 yards out after going under to Joel Russell’s challenge, that opened the opportunity for the winning item in a very untidy clash against Jabloteh.

Russell picked up a yellow card by match referee Neil Brizan for the incident. Brizan later dished out a further two yellow cards to Ataullah Guerra and Sheldon Bateau before the half hour mark.

Jabloteh coach Terry Fenwick then responded by replacing winger Kennedy Hinkson with striker Jerol Forbes in the 30th minute.

Seven minutes inside the second half Jabloteh survived another goal, from a similar situation, but goalkeeper Cleon John was well positioned to tip an unmarked Shandel Samuel’s header from Elton John’s freekick over for a corner.

Fenwick later made a couple changes in desperate search of an equalizer replacing Ronaldo Viana with the speedy Johan Peltier in the 62nd minute and Ataullah Guerra with Cyrano Glen 15 minutes from time.

However that goal never came, except for a couple more yellow cards by referee Brizan totaling seven—five belonging to the defeated Jabloteh.

Ma Pau had a chance to decorate their victory in injury time when Rennie Britto played a brilliant through ball dissecting the Jabloteh defence and into Samuel’s run, however the St. Vincent and the Grenadines forward went to the ground too easily after bumping in between the defenders crying foul as goalkeeper Cleon John clutched the ball between his legs—but it wasn’t enough to attract referee Brizan’s attention.

Jabloteh are in an embarrassing ninth position with one point, Police FC tenth, Tobago United eleventh, and ahead of them are sixth and seventh respectively Caledonia and SouthEnd, and Rangers in eighth making up the bottom half of the table.

Wonder if Fenwick and McComie shook hands after the game .....8)

That game probably was looking like a Jabloteh A vs Jabloteh B game....
