As an aside:  I am impressed with the commentary of John Harkes.  His realtime technical analysis has been crisp, and he has shown that he is abreast of the game:  clubs, players, tactics, etc.  FSC, if allyuh want American analysts, look one right in yuh face.  I forget, de man doh saddle with Wynalda, so dat ain't go work.

Nah dred... I rate Harkes in the past but he has been absolute shit this tournament.

...that aside, McManaman totally cross the line there with his commentary "a Guatemalan referee officiating the quarterfinals... got to do better than that".  What his nationality have to do with anything.

He said it with disdain too.

A little bit ah luck does come een handy in trute.....Villa take a shot against a top-performing Portuguese 'keeper, the rebound fall right at his feet, he score.  Today, Pedro hit the post, ball fall PERFECT for Villa, he score.  Not trying to take nutt'n from him....He was obviously destined to have a grand Tournament.  This was/is his time.

When last Villa score a goal that was not a gift?

The first goal he scored vs Honduras is the only non-gift when he shot while off-balance.
2nd goal vs Honduras took a deflection that put it over the keeper.
(Vs Honduras he also missed the entire goal with his penalty, no pressure, and he did not blast it.)
Goal vs Chile the goalie was about 40 yards from his goal.  Villa had to hit it well, but there was no keeper in the goal.
Goal vs Portugal the keeper saved the initial shot, but the keeper was on the floor for the rebound. He lucky that came straight back to him.
Goal vs Paraguay, the keeper was somewhere out of the goal again when the ball came back off the post straight to Villa

Is only gifts and one off-balance shot this man score so far for de WC.

Weird match....didn't really follow most of the first half though I was right there.

Villa is a class striker, no doubt, but last time I see a man score such a lucky goal (two post) was AC Milan coming from behind to put out Lyon when they had their best squad in 05 or so (Essien, Diarra, Malouda, Abidal,
Juninho, Coupet, etc)

I don't see Spain getting past Germany.

Oh yeah, and I doh know if is lack of fitness, but somebody should tell Santa Cruz to unhitch that trailer he have holding him back when he have to run...geez pardner slow like moroccoy...

Spain seems uncertain as to what is their best team. When Torres was removed they look far
more mobile and began to penetrate. Germany on the other hand are balanced and even the subs
understand their responsibility. still its one game, anything can happen

Spain is simply scared.  They, as a nation, have never made it this far in the tournament and they don't know what to do with themselves.  Remember in the beginning how Casillas talk about the english 'keepers being the weak link in their team because they had no big game experience at the club level?  Well, Spain eh sure what to do and the pressure mounts more and more the further they go into the tournament.  They have the firepower to have run over Paraguay yesterday and they couldn't see dey way!  Watch Germany dice dem up like pelau carrots.

As funny as this is, it says alot about football legacy, only Klose, Bastian S., Lahm, Podolski and a few others have made it this far before, but here is where having generations of success at the highest levels can pay dividends to delivering when it matters
