I wonder why Farinha and Richards weren't chosen? There times are faster than Moriba in de 200 and they are also younger.

Maybe Farinha and Richards were not pre-warned about these Champs and so did not prepared themselves for taking part while the athletes selected were pre-warned and so prepared themselves?
Or maybe the selectors are trying to give everyone an opportunity to take part in International Champs rather than just selecting the fastest athletes available who have already had the opportunity? Who knows?

 12 Barret, Kemner Watson     22 Costa Rica               10.92   2.4  1

Looks like T&T's Moriba Morain with his 4th place time of 10.57 in Heat 1 could not make the Final.
Moriba has got a lot of improvement to make if he ever intends to be a world class athlete.

American athletes dominating so far. I really hope our athletes do well because these type of tournaments is the right platform for young athletes to gain confidence and separate themselves from their peers

Stewart, Waite secure NACAC medals
Story Created: Aug 10, 2014 at 11:16 PM ECT (T&T Express)

STEVE WAITE grabbed triple jump silver and shot puter Akeem Stewart got a bronze during yesterday’s final day of the 2014 NACAC Under 23 Championship of Athletics in Kamloops, British Colombia, Canada.

Mark London, Trinidad and Tobago’s premier middle distance runners, also reached the 800 metres final, where he finished seventh in the eight-member field. London clocked 1:52.87. He had qualified eighth fastest for yesterday’s final, clocking 1:53.0. He was fifth in heat two of the 800 metre event, but qualified as one of the two fastest losers.

A team of five athletes, including sprinter Moriba Morain and high jumper Deandra Daniel represented Trinidad and Tobago at the meet. Both had failed to advance past the preliminary round on Friday’s opening day.

Waite, a 2012 CAC junior triple jump bronze medalist, leapt 15.94 metres when finishing second to American Eric Sloan (16.2m) in yesterday’s eight-man triple jump final, with Bahamian Lathone Collie Minns third (15.86m).

Meanwhile, Stewart threw the iron ball 17.76 metres when trailing a pair of Americans in the six-man shot put final. The American Willy Irvin won the event with a 19.44 metre throw, with his compatriot Darrell Hill second with 18.85 metres.

A differently-abled athletes from Tobago, Stewart has as a personal goal being selected for T&T at both the 2016 Olympics and Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A leg impairment classifies Stewart, 22, as a para athlete.

He also competes in the open class has emerged as a big name in para athletics. In November, he threw 17.49 metres in his class, less than one metre shy of the International Paralympic world record, with an impressive shot-put triumph in Medellin, Colombia, at the Il Campeonato Paralimpico de Atletisimo Games.
