Spencer's two goals, two assists lead Warriors Men's Soccer to 6-3 win at Molloy
esuwarriors.comSenior forward Shastri Spencer and freshman midfielder Matthew Geidner both scored a pair of goals as East Stroudsburg University rode an outburst to a 6-3 win at Molloy in non-conference men’s soccer on Saturday afternoon.
Senior midfielder Danny Drago and junior forward Greg Schook also scored for the Warriors, who improved to 4-0 going into next Friday’s PSAC opener against rival Lock Haven. ESU’s last 4-0 start came in 2005.
Spencer had two goals and two assists, including one goal and two assists on the Warriors’ four second-half goals.
Drago and Spencer scored goals 24 seconds apart in the first half, at 19:56 (Drago from senior midfielder Michael Kane) and Spencer at 20:20.
The Warriors struck with a pair of quick goals early in the second half as well, on Schook’s second goal of the year in the 55th minute and the first of Geidner’s two goals in the 57th minute.
Molloy pulled within 4-2 with goals in the 58th and 74th minutes before the Warriors came right back. Geidner scored from Spencer at 74:37 and Spencer netted her second goal of the game, unassisted, at 77:49. Molloy finished the scoring on the Tyler De La Torre’s second goal of the contest in the 85th minute.
Both goalkeepers had three saves, senior Troy Hernandez for ESU and Michael Hunter for Molloy. ESU held a 14-11 advantage in shots.
The Warriors have outscored their first four opponents, 13-4, with four players who have scored multiple goals. Spencer and Geidner both have three goals and Drago and Kane have scored two goals apiece.
Friday’s PSAC opener vs. Lock Haven is slated for a 3:30 p.m. start at Eiler-Martin Stadium.
