‘Tigers’ win five on the trot.
By: Nigel Simon (T&T Guardian).

Four different players were on target as St Anthony’s College crushed Trinity College 4-0 to move to within a point of clinching a fifth North Zone title in the BG T&T Secondary Schools Football League yesterday.

Rayshad Allen opened the scoring for the “Westmooring Tigers” as early as the fourth minute at their Morne Coco Road, Ground for a 1-0 lead at the break.

Five minutes into the second-half national Under-20 midfielder Dwight Ceballo doubled the advantage while Jean-Paul Aqui (67th) and Keane Mc Ivor (86th) added one each for the Tigers fifth straight win, and the only team still with a 100 per cent winning record in the league.

Should second placed East Mucurapo (nine points) beat Trinity on Saturday St Anthony’s will go into its final match against Fatima on Wednesday needing only a draw to clinch the zonal crown.

A draw or loss for East Mucurapo against Trinity will also see St Anthony’s being crowned champions. However, yesterday East Mucurapo kept the Tigers waiting after it defeated Queen’s Royal College 2-1 at St Clair while Fatima shut-out cellar placed Malick 2-0.

Tobago race wide open
Over in Tobago, the title race was blown wide open after front-runners Scarborough Secondary was held to a 1-1 draw by Signal Hill, while defending champions, Mason Hall edged Speyside 3-2.

Darry Trim netted the opener for Signal Hill two minutes into the second-half, but Dario Holmes replied for Scarborough to finish its four-match campaign with eight points, two more than Mason Hasll which has two matches outstanding.

Oche Cyrus, the brother of national senior team defender Daniel Cyrus scored a double for Mason Hall while former national Under-17 midfielder Omar Charles got the other to cancel out Leroy Martineau’s double for Speyside.

Naps extend lead in South
Adan Noel and captain, Anthony Parris were both on target as earned front-runners Naparima College blanked Princes Town West 2-0 in the first match of a South Zone double-header at Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella.

Noel netted in the 21 minutes while Parris got his third goal in as many matches in the 64th minute to seal an important victory for Naparima, now with 12 points from five matches, four ahead of second placed teams’ Shiva Boys’ and Pleasantville.

In the second match at Marabella, Pleasantville wasted a chance to keep within two points off Naps’ after it was held to a 2-2 draw by last season’s zonal winner, Presentation while St Benedict’s whipped Vessigny 3-0 with national Under-17 striker, Shackiel Henry, scoring a double at Mahaica Oval.
