Hiring Latas is a big step backwards.

There should be no dilemma as to whom to choose between Latapy and Lawrence. None.

Also, if the final pool of candidates is accurately said to be narrowed to Stuart Charles-Fevrier, Terry Fenwick, Russell Latapy, Dennis Lawrence and Francisco Maturana, that would indicate the absence of proper process.

In addition, Maturana was much maligned regarding language competence. How is he on the  shortlist and Luis Fernando Suarez was discarded?

I don't want Lawrence either.

Any reason why?

Not as head coach, maybe assistant.

There must be a reason why Roberto Martinez didn't take him.

What Lawrence doing now?

Faster than a speeding pittbull
Stronger than a shot of ba-bash
Capable of storming any fete

Because Thierry Henry has insight and pedigree regarding national team football within UEFA would be a clear obvious. Martinez lacks that. And Henry offers the ability to add rigour to attacking components tactically, given his former playing position. Martinez lacks that. There are a couple other reasons I can think of, but perhaps someone should ask Dennis and he could pronounce on the issue.

He is not luggage, Martinez can not take him everywhere.

The make up of a club is vastly different than a National Team, the structure and demands likely did not have room for him since Belgium was not changing U15, U16, U17, U18, U19, nor U21 coaches as they have confidence in their development plan.

I am not sure where Dennis is, note that Martinez did take three persons with him but those guys were with him at Swansea, Wigan and Everton.  Dennis was an a valuable assistant to Martinez but not a the level of Graeme Jones.
