Dwight Yorke fit for top of table shoot out
Saturday, 15 October, 2005 - 7:53PM
Sydney FC striker Dwight Yorke has arrived back in Australia fit and ready to take his place in the side for tomorrow’s sell out A-League blockbuster against Melbourne Victory at Olympic Park in Melbourne.

Yorke stepped off the plane this morning after skippering Trinidad & Tobago into an historic World Cup play off and trained freely with Sydney FC in Melbourne this afternoon.

Coach Pierre Littbarski happily watched his striker breeze through training before declaring him a certain starter.

“Dwight has come back fit and refreshed and he is ready to play,” Littbarski said. “He is good in the mind and he is good in the legs after watching him training so he will play.”

Yorke will be out to add to his four goals in the A-League, which have come in just five matches, including his first goal of the season in a 1-1 draw against Melbourne Victory in round one.

Sydney FC can go to the top of the A-league ladder with a victory against Melbourne tomorrow following Adelaide United’s second consecutive loss, this time going down to Newcastle 4-2 on Friday night.

In fact, the match has been set up as a shoot out for top spot on the A-League ladder with Melbourne also able to leapfrog Sydney and Adelaide if they win the game. A draw will see Sydney lead the competition on goal difference from Adelaide.

Adding to the tension is the fact that Melbourne Victory officials today declared the match was sold out, meaning more than 18,000 people will pack into Olympic Park.

The Sydney FC squad is: Clint Bolton (gk), Iain Fyfe, Alvin Ceccoli, Ufuk Talay, Robbie Middleby, Matthew Bingley, David Zdrilic, Steve Corica, Sasho Petrovski, David Carney, Andrew Packer, Terry McFlynn, Jacob Timpano, Dwight Yorke and Justin Pasfield (gk).

The Sydney FC website w}ll carry live match updates dur8ng the match, starting at 12.45pm.
