T&T vs England Lions
« on: February 18, 2011, 08:52:01 AM »

T&T–Daren Ganga (Captain), Denesh Ramdin, Lendl Simmons, Justin Guillen, Runako Morton, Yannic Cariah, Imran Khan, Dave Mohammed, Rayad Emrit, Amit Jaggernauth, Shannon Gabriel, Atiba Allert, Sherwin Ganga

Lions won toss and decided to bat.

Kanhai got droped and Yannic Cariah comes in to the 13 man team.

S.Ganga comes in to the line up.

T&T going with a weaker batting line up against the best batting team in the competition.  ???

Lions are 42-1.

Maybe we looking to strengthen our bowling line up to put the Lions under some pressure. It's safe to say that they haven't been under any pressure so far in the series... it remains to be seen how it will work out.

Now 66/2.

I know it is early but this is the best start any team so far has had against the Lions.

Now 268/5......T&T doing well to 'restrict' the Lions.  The lower half of the batting order for the Lions has not yet been tested, so lets see how they respond now.

Would have liked to see Carriah in the line-up against the Lions,TT selectors usually bring them in quite young and we missed a chance to showcase a youth with plenty potential.Iunderstand that we have to play to win but more important is Caribbean cricket and the future,we have already shown what we can do with the likes of 2 Bravos and Barath.I hope that Simmo can show his worth in this match and give the selectors a nudge.

Lions 288-8 . Now we have to get the last two before they reach 300.

Fellas getting starts but not converting.....someone needs to settle down for a big innings. Morton has gotten a good start, hopefully he can take it much further.

T&T 136/2

Morton 34
Ganga 11

One or both of these two have to make 100+ because not that much batting after them.

Rain came and kill T&T momentum.  :(

End of day 2 T&T 172/2 still need another 154 for first innings points.
This game seems to be heading for a draw. So we need to at least get first innings points.

I would like to digress just a little from the Lions vs TT game.In view of the money that is floating about in the ODIs and T/20s,wouldn't it be better for Caribbean teams to play as seperate entities, this would showcase players not selected for the Windies team. There seems to be something of a paradox here,we say our best team is a selection of players from all the regions but we have very little doubt that TT can beat a West Indies team in the 2 versions of the shorter game,I dont doubt that we may even beat them at 5 days or 4 days.I dont know if a mechanism can be put in place to achieve this but I am sure its possible. With all due respect to Canada,Kenya,Ireland and Zimbabwe, lets just say "we might just be a little better than them",some people may say much better.Although I feel we have taken to the shorter versions of the game "like a duck to water",we are still one of the best balanced teams in the Caribbean,we haven't won the 4 day version over the last 3 years but there were factors such as rain and loss of important players,we are not the "one trick poney"as certain Caribbean people like to tag us with.  8)

T&T 204/4  both D Gang 47 and Morton 54 after batting well yesterday are gone.

S Ganga 4
D Ramdin 2

We need a big stand from these two.
