TTFF again! Unfair and unjust
1976 F.C. Phoenix Sports Club Media Release

The 1976 F.C. Phoenix Sports Club hereby publically protests to the official results and the subsequent “convenient” announcement of the 2010 season of the annual National Super League, hosted by the Trinidad & Tobago Football Federation and managed by All Sport Promotions.

As of December 19th 2010, the preliminary results showed T&TEC in first position with 49 points, Phoenix in second position with 36 points and WASA in third position with 35 points, and three games outstanding before the disciplinary committee.

One of the outstanding games involved Stokley Vale from Tobago and WASA FC. In This particular instance, Stokley Vale had home advantage for this match and unfortunately, WASA only brought one set of playing outfit similar in colour with Stokely Vale.  For obvious reasons, and according to the rules, this game did not play, and yet one point each has been awarded to WASA and Stokely Vale.

This brings to question:
i.What is the purpose of awarding one point to WASA?
ii.What did Stokely Vale do wrong to warrant WASA receiving one point?

According to the Rules and Reminders to Managers: (distributed to all clubs at the launch of NSL)
Clause 7 reads “Each team shall have an official outfit (jerseys, shorts & socks) and a reserve outfit which shall be declared. These must contrast in colour. In the case of similar team colours, the Away Team shall make the necessary change i.e. use reserve outfit.

At present, presentations have been scheduled for Wednesday 2nd March 2011, from 7.30am, Jaffa at the Oval by All Sport Promotions Ltd.

THIS DECISION HAS BEEN DELAYED UNNECESSARILY, IS BLATANTLY AND OUTRIGHT UNFAIR, AND ANNOUNCED CONVENIENTLY (less than 48 hours prior to presentations) AND WE ARE CALLING FOR THE TRINIDAD & TOBAGO FOOTBALL FEDERATION TO REVOKE THIS DECISION AND TO CAREFULLY REVIEW THE DECISION OF THE DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE WHICH IS WRONG!

This decision cannot be left to dwindle away along with the rest of burning topics currently facing the Trinidad & Tobago Football Federation.  It is TOTALLY unfair to deliver these results and then expect UNSPONSORED, NON-PROFIT ORGANISATIONS to fend for themselves by contracting the services of lawyers to appeal such decisions.

Football in Trinidad & Tobago is in serious jeopardy as we are represented by an agency that metes out ad-hoc, sporadic and uncouth decisions, and then left to literally disentangle the pieces.
The Conquering Lion of Judah shall break every chain.

This is more relevant following the ProLeague decision to withdraw Jabloteh from the First Citizens Cup match vs Ma Pau when they refused to accept a set of socks from Ma Pau, as both teams were wearing black socks.

Imagine Man Utd playing Wolves in last match of season with Wolves needing 1 point to avoid relegation. They turn up in a red kit and get awarded 1 point!!

In reality, I have been at several matches where there have been uniform clashes or team forget to bring uniforms. Usually, home team will lend kit to away team. I saw Gillingham play at Millwall and Gillingham brought their blue kit instead of white. Millwall lent their green 3rd strip. Gillingham won and Millwall fans claimed their players got confused!

So how much kits did SV have?....Steupps shouldnt these things be sorted out my match officials long before the game? Every team should have 2 different kits...Now, if 1 of these teams followed the rules, the game would have been played. Common sense

This kind of behaviour is for Sunday morning football. And even then Sunday morning teams does resolve this issue in no time. If these lil boys want to act dotish, then all away team should wear white. If the home does wear white, tell them they have to change. Plain and simple.

No need for this...there is a perfectly good rule...make sure when you play away, your kit is different from home team. Simple. In the Toyoya Cup Final, North East wore burgundy shorts from their training uniform so as not to clash with Ma Pau. If you do not adhere to this rule, home team is awarded 3 points.

Of course, this rule can also be used to conspire to "gift" 3 points to the home team. But reality is, if the away team really wanted the home team to get 3 points, they could just lose the match on purpose!!

Phoenix appeal to National Super League results
« Reply #6 on: March 03, 2011, 07:02:59 PM »
Thursday 3rd March 2011

Via Email

To:    All Sport Promotions Ltd.

This letter serves as our second appeal to the official results released by All Sport Promotions Ltd. on Monday 28th February 2011.  We feel that the results of the disciplinary committee were made arbitrarily and without guidance from past similar situations.

The instance in particular between Stokley Vale and WASA FC should not have even reached the disciplinary committee as provisions are made in the rules for the match officials (referees, and /or commissioners) to determine the outcome.  As we interpret this rule “Clause 7 “Each team shall have an official outfit (jerseys, shorts & socks) and a reserve outfit which shall be declared. These must contrast in colour. In the case of similar team colours, the Away Team shall make the necessary change i.e. use reserve outfit.

The decision to take this matter to the disciplinary committee sets an unprecedented stage for trivial matters to be reviewed at this level and to reflect an inaccurate “League System”.

For instance:
1. The precedence was already set in season 2009 where Club Sando lost to a very similar situation where the point was awarded to 1976 F.C. Phoenix because they had the same colour uniform.
2. No point was awarded for an un-played game between Phoenix and Defense Force in round 2 of season 2009 when Defence Force Grounds was unprepared.

The above draws reference to the disciplinary committee’s ad-hoc, sporadic and arbitrary decisions throughout this league.  Should our interpretation of the above rule (clause 7) be incorrect, then why is the T.T.F.F. sanctioning “a rule” to allow points to be awarded to teams for having similar uniforms?

We are again appealing to the T.T.F.F. to revoke the official results received on Monday 28th February 2011 and to review the decision of the disciplinary committee and to apply fair judgment to this issue.

Yours respectfully,
Roxanne Herbert
General Secretary
1976 F.C. Phoenix
The Conquering Lion of Judah shall break every chain.

How much kits SV have should not be the issue at all, there are clearly rules put in place for these type of circumstances, and it's down to the away team to research before they get to the opposition, what colours they play in. That is the professional thing to do, But then, how professional are these set ups. Saying that the match officials should know the rules clearly, and correctly award the teams what's due to them with no exceptions. So there is a problem with officials knowing the rules etc.
