Walcott brothers lead T&T’s Carifta charge.

Walcott brothers Elton and Kishorn have been named in Trinidad and Tobago’s national junior track and field team for the 40th annual Carifta Games set for the St Catherine Sporting Complex in Montego Bay, Jamaica from April 23 to 25.
The Toco athletes have won five Carifta gold medals between them. Elton will be chasing his fourth straight gold in the triple jump after first winning the boys under-17 event in 2008 and remains unbeaten in the under-20 age group. Elton bettered the Carifta standard of 14.50 with one jump of 14.75 at the last weekend’s Carifta trials.
His younger sibling Kishorn is aiming for a treble in the Javelin event. His streak started with a victory in the boys under 17 event in 2009. Kishorn topped the trials with 66.97 metres, just off his national junior record of 67.01 set last year. Also named in the 66-member contingent are defending champions Michelle Lee Ahye, Mark London, Shaunna Downey and Kernisha Spann.
