W Connection host “A nation's pride” the continuation event.
W Connection Press Release.

Point Lisas Industrial Estate, Couva, April 5th 2011 – Borough Day Weekend 2011, Point Fortin is set to come alive as W Connection Sports Group presents “A Nation’s Pride – The Continuation Event” in celebration of Forty-Nine (49) years of the Calypso Monarch and Road March in the history of Trinidad & Tobago since Independence.

This coming together of culture epitomizes the true spirit of our National Heritage as we pay tribute to the late Kelvin “Duke” Pope and Austin “Superblue” Lyons.

MC’s for the night’s proceedings are comedians Tommy Joseph, Dennis “Sprangalang” Hall, and Errol Fabien.

Patrons will be entertained by some of the finest in the Calypso and Soca fraternity, the likes of Austin “Superblue” Lyons, Winston “Shadow” Bailey, Shurwayne Winchester, Faye Ann Lyons-Alvarez, JW & Blaze, Singing Sandra, Chalkdust, Cro Cro and Iwer “D Boss” George to name a few.

All artists will be backed by the Errol Ince Brass Band.

A Nation’s Pride was first produced in 1998 and 1999 where patrons were treated to 36 years of the Calypso Monarch and 37 years of the Road March spanning from Trinidad & Tobago’s Independence in1962.

From Federation to Look Below the Surface, from Maria to River; Patrons enjoyed calypso classics by some the greatest Calypsonians and lyricists of our nation’s history that won them the various Calypso Monarchs’ and Road March titles.

To date, this has been the only stage where the elite of the Calypso and Soca fraternity have come together in celebration of a national art form.

The official media launch will be hosted at the National Library Headquarters – NALIS Building, Port of Spain, on
Friday 8th April 2011 at 1:00 pm.

A Nation’s Pride – The Continuation Event takes place on Thursday May 5th 2011 at the South West Regional Indoor Sports Arena, Egypt Village, Point Fortin; Showtime is at 7:30 pm.

Early bird advance tickets cost $250.00 General Admission for the first week (thereafter $300.00), and $600.00 Drinks Inclusive VIP.

Tickets go on sale Tuesday 12th April 2011 at First Citizen’s Branches in Point Fortin, San Fernando, Siparia, and Gulf City; Legends Sports Bar Point Fortin, and D’ Brands San Fernando. Additional outlets will be announced in the upcoming week.

Patrons can listen in on i95.5 – The Official Concert Station, for ticket giveaways as well as on Red 96.7 fm, and Hitz 107.1 fm for further show information.

Good luck to W Connection with this event. Its good to see Pro League teams looking to promote community events outside of football. Not only do these events entrench the club brand in its community, they also provide much needed funds to support and develop football.

Lets see more of this from the other clubs.  :applause: :applause: :applause:

At the Press Conference last week it was said that Machel would be out of the Country at the time of the event but some one else would sing his 2011 winning tune.

What about 2006 (Band of de Year), and 2007 (Jumbie)?
