Carlos is a real nice guy, but he needs to get someone to look after this stuff. Police take these offences real serious and make examples of high profile people to reinforce their seriousness. Ignore at your peril. I laugh, because if the T&T police acted like the UK police, you would soon be able to drive from Grand Bazaar to Pos in 20 mins....and keep inside the speed limit  :rotfl:

Blues ace Carlos Edwards missed court after death in his family

Blues ace Carlos Edwards missed court after death in his family
By Hollie-Rae Merrick (Evening Star)

A warrant for Carlos Edwards’ arrest was issued by magistrates when he did not show up for the hearing at South East Suffolk Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

The winger or full back had already admitted two counts of driving without third party insurance, driving without a licence and driving without an MOT and is set to receive a driving ban when he is apprehended.

The charges relate to two incidents, one of which took place in Ipswich while the other was on the A14 near Bury St Edmunds.

The 32-year-old, of Coprolite Street, Ipswich, was allegedly driving a Mercedes on the A14 at 8.30am on January 22 when he was stopped by police. Following the incident he later played and scored the winning goal in Ipswich Town’s 3-2 win over Doncaster Rovers that same day.

It is believed Edwards has been in Trinidad and Tobago following the death of a family member and his absence in court was the result of an error when filling out forms ahead of the hearing.

The Star understands he has been made aware of the situation.

It was revealed in court that the Town star had pleaded guilty by post.

A police spokeswoman said that a warrant was still out for his arrest.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for Ipswich Town Football Club said it was club policy not to comment on personal issues.

Edwards played 42 games for the Blues in the 2010/11 season, chipping in with three goals.

Carlos Edwards gets one-year driving ban

Town player gets one-year driving ban
By Katie McGonagle (Green'Un24)

SUPER Blues star Carlos Edwards has been fined £7,650 and banned from the road for a year after admitting a series of driving offences.

The Ipswich Town midfielder pleaded guilty at South East Suffolk Magistrates’ Court yesterday to two counts each of driving without a valid licence, with no insurance and without having an up-to-date MoT certificate for his car.

He also admitted one
count of failing to give information about the identity of a driver.

It comes after he was caught driving a Mercedes M L320 CDI on the A14 near Bury St Edmunds at 8.30am on January 22 – despite never having passed his driving test in this country and having let his MoT and insurance lapse.

But the footballer, who lives in Coprolite Street, Ipswich, made matters worse when he was spotted by police just six days later committing the same offences while driving
a grey Range Rover along Duke Street at 9.30am on January 28.

Magistrates fined him a total of £7,650 – including £3,000 for the first instance of driving without insurance and £4,000 for the second offence – as well as court costs of £255 and a £15 victim surcharge.

They also gave him what would have amounted to 22 points on his licence – although he received an automatic ban from the road.

Sentencing the footballer, magistrates criticised his
decision to repeat the
same mistakes less than
a week after being caught
driving illegally by police,
saying he should have addressed the problem in the meantime.

Neil Saunders, mitigating, said Edwards had accepted responsibility for his offences and planned to set up a foundation in his home country to coach street children.

The Conquering Lion of Judah shall break every chain.

Lol...gotta say that was the most brazen response to being caught driving without a license:  do it again six days later.  Someone needs to talk to these fellas.  Giving away free money that they could well give to charity back home.  And why would he not take the road test in the UK?  He's been there so damn long!

Disgraced footballer Carlos Edwards could face jail

Disgraced footballer Carlos Edwards could face jail
By Katie McGonagle (Evening Star)

Disgraced footballer Carlos Edwards could now face time in jail after allegedly being caught behind the wheel – despite being banned from the roads for a string of driving offences.

The Ipswich Town midfielder was last night charged with driving while disqualified and driving without insurance after officers stopped his BMW in Kesgrave yesterday.

This comes less than three months after the 32-year-old admitted a host of driving offences which earned him 22 points on his licence. He was given an automatic year-long ban from the roads and £7,000 in fines.

He was arrested yesterday and kept in the cells while officers dealt with the charges and seized his BMW as evidence, before being released on police bail.

A spokeswoman for Ipswich Town
Football Club last night said: “We can
confirm that Carlos Edwards was arrested for driving while disqualified this morning [Monday].

“We understand there are significant mitigating circumstances but this is now a matter for the police and we will be making no further comment until due process is complete.”

The Trinidadian footballer,
formerly of Coprolite Street, appeared before magistrates in June this year to admit two counts each of driving without a valid licence, with no insurance and without having an up-to-date MOT, and one count of failing to give information about the identity of a driver.

He had been caught driving a Mercedes M L320 CDI on the A14 near Bury St Edmunds on January 22, and was then spotted by police just six days later committing the same offences while driving a grey Range Rover along Duke Street on January 28.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk Police last night confirmed the footballer had been charged with the two driving offences and would appear before South East Suffolk Magistrates’ Court in Ipswich on October 10.
The Conquering Lion of Judah shall break every chain.
