ST JOHN’S, Antigua – The Antigua & Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) has announced a 36-member training squad to begin preparation for the senior team’s first two games of the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The squad includes 16 players from the nation’s only professional club Antigua Barracuda FC, which made its debut in the United Soccer League Professional Division this season.

Ten overseas-based professionals have also been invited to the training squad.

The other overseas-based players are Marc Joseph of Altrincham FC; Nathaniel Jarvis of Cardiff FC; Keiran Murtagh of Cambridge United FC and Kiernan Hughes Mason of Milwall FC.

Antigua & Barbuda, ranked 106 in the World and fourth in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU), have been placed in Group F in the second round of CONCACAF qualification for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The Antiguans have been drawn alongside Haiti, Curacao, and the United States Virgin Islands in home and away ties to be played between September 1 and November 15.

Antigua and Barbuda will open their campaign at home against Curacao on September 2. The Antiguans will then travel to face the US Virgin Islands on September 6.

They will be away to Curacao on October 7 then return home to face US Virgin Islands on October 11.

For unknown reasons Grenada fielded basically a U-23 team with none of their 7 or so professional players in England and the USA

Netherlands were merciless vs San Marino, 11-0.
Japan 1-0 over N. Korea.  It's a miracle Japan only score 1, lots of chances and woodwork involved.

Canada v. St. Lucia on GOL TV right now... 1-1 in the 20'... missed both goals, but shocked that Canada concede to them so early.

EDIT:  they just announced that Canada went ahead in the 5' and St. Lucia equalized seconds later.... best time to score a goal.

maybe it was a "spice list".

Really sad for my mother country though. thought they would build on the Digicup success... I don't see them putting 3 past Belize in Belize, even with their pros...

I watched the second half... it wasn't the Barca men... it was dat shithong Arbeloa.  First he dive to earn the penalty that Fabregas score, then he rush in and shove the Chilean and getting everybody else tizic over nutten.  Handbags then ensued.

Dare I ask?

What? The fact that the visitors scored twice?

RE: Arbeloa ... would like to see him dealt a HEAVY blow from the powers that be. What he did is akin to Robles  in the hurdles final. Then jumping in with the punch was more toxic BS.
