Chicharito - I reiterate - is not a baller.

You may not like him! Fair enough! But to say he is not a baller, is a load of rubbish.

He is not a baller. What does he do. When he can't get tap ins, can he drop in an play? Can he drift outwide and take players on? What?

Score goals?

Chicharito is no Messi but I'd be curious to know your definition of a 'baller'?  Not looking for argument, don't really care that much... just curious.  If a player can "drop in an play" or "drift outwide and take players on"... but doesn't find the back of the net... is he a baller?

For me, when I think of a 'baller' I think of someone who impacts the game in several different ways.  In that sense you could say Hernandez doesn't fit the bill... but his movement inside the box is exquisite.  How man footballers not getting them same "tap ins" the way Chicharito does?  It might seem unspectacular that he scores these tap ins (you almost want to say "ho-hum... Chicharito with another tap-in"), but it's no coincidence that he consistently seems to be in the right place at the right time.

Speaking of ballers though... Leighton Baines is a baller.  Solid efensively, he creates for others, is an attacking threat during the run of play and dangerous from set pieces.  Very underrated player.

EDIT:

Not sure why I keep trying to give Baines Welsh background lol

The US can lose on the road and win every home and qualify. JK looking far ahead, like Brazil ahead. Throw men in the deep end on the road and let them bleed there, so that when yuh in Wisconsin vs JA hopefully those scar will assist.

That's it Bakes, correct. I like how you explain it.

He can score goal, but he is not a baller. That's why I did not say player. Right now, Lennon is more of a baller than Chicharito. The fella can score goals, so to Dwight Yorke, Cole, Nistleroy and Ole Gunnar, but the difference is they can ball.

Yuh need players like him though. Right now T&T and Chelsea could do with a player like him.

The beauty of football, there is a place for all types, once you can create a balance. Uwe Seller, Muller, Rush, Klose, Gomes, Morientes, Liniker, Kluivert the list goes on, scoring goals is what the game is about. If you have the knack to know where the ball will arrive & can finish, you are a baller (in my eyes). Why? Its a big big part of the game. Look at Brazil now, plenty of so called "ballers" and no one to finish the move.

We said Observer, I would love to have Chicharito on my team, de man is very hard to mark and is one of de most dangerous strikers in the box in the EPL.

He knows how to poach real good and does make de best out of it.

I was just going to say de same...all the shit talk about he eh no baller.  what de arse is a baller if he is not one?  The man deadly around the box...goals win matches and if anyone knows how to get the ball, hotw to position himself to get the opportunities and THEN..score!

The man can dribble, has speed, can score with either foot, with his head (for a short man he is outstanding and clinical with his head)and has the acumen to know where to find himself on teh pitch to get the ball.   He is clinical and unpredictable.   He can run with the ball and keep defenders at bay.  Total BALLER!

I watch the jamaica game, and it's one of the best games i've seen jamaica played ever!! it was even better than the game they playued against USA in the office where they defeated the yanks. the game wqs so good that i goin and watch it again in a minute.  jamaica coulda win dat game hands down bc they caught mexico on about five counter attack that could have resulted in goal if they had clinical finishers like fuller and shelton.

Ass talk about website.  The man is a proven goal scorer.  He can run at defenders, he can beat then, he can play ball.  Funny thing is I hate Man U but that man can play ball.

I waiting on elan to disprove what I wrote about the man and all he can offer up is  :bs:?

Disprove what I said...

1.  He can score with both feet.
2.  He is a master at finding himself in goal scoring positions.
3.  He is clinical with his head.
4.  He can dribble well.
5.  He can get past defenders and keep them off until he gets the shot off.
6.  He scores a lot of goals.

That equals a baller.

On the subject of ballers, any of the 70s and 80s babies remember this striker? He did not seem to have any special skill, but always found himself in the right place at the right time, a true opportunist.

Salvatore Schillaci came to the rescue of an Italian team that had a hard time scoring goals in the 1990 WC. I remember Vialli spurning many opportunities.

That man hit a real purple patch at the right time. He was in the lower divisions and Juventus bought him just before the WC. He start banging in goals and Italy pick him. Man was on the bench, get a break and the rest is history.

Interesting that you choose to say Jamaica expose Hernandez! Like only he played in the game, by your logic one can also conclude that Dos Santos, Guardado, Salcido were also exposed. The truth is, that if anything was exposed, is the fact that Mexico's back line is vulnurable to pace.

Why all the criticism? The whole MExico team played poorly.  I missed most of the first half but in the second the only good chance I see Chicharito get is the neat one two that the keeper did real good to rush and block.  From what I saw he wasn't getting good opportunities.

As for being a baller in general, Chicharito makes some beautiful runs off the ball. Better than most strikers I see now.

I think the coaching staff got the tactics right for this game, but perhaps the biggest factor is this: Jamaica now has a very good defensive unit. Keeper Ricketts on his day is one of the better keepers in CONCACAF, and has years of experience, having gone to France 98 as Jamaica third string keeper.  Nyron Nosworthy, Adrian Mariappa are solid players, Jermaine Taylor is a mainstay in the Houston Dynamo defense and Demar Philips has also had a good 4 seasons at Aalesunds in Norway. The Midfield also now has two very rugged box-to-box type guys in Rudi Austin from Leeds united and Marvin Elliot of Bristol City ...very experienced players. Jobi McCanuff of Reading, what a player, very solid on the wings, and although he missed that early rebound off the post in his follow up shot saved by the goalie, he had a very solid game. Perhaps the area where Jamaica needs some reinforcement is in the area of attack. Jermaine Beckford got injured just prior to the Mexican game and had to be pulled out, he probably is our marquee striker at the moment, although it sounds weird saying that for a guy who has not yet made his debut. But all in all, I still believe this team is two or three players short of being a team that can take one of the 3 automatic spots. We play Panama next, anything but a victory here will put pressure back on the coach and players. I expect a sell-out crowd in Kingston next month...wont be easy for Panama.

Good Luck with Panama, it will NOT be easy to beat them at all.

That fella Jobi Mc Canuf...is he the number 10?  he is an abortionist!  Real throw away specialist.  Good luck with he too.
