Lions take a bite out of the Big Apple with 2-1 victory
By: Adam Soucie

NEW YORK, NY – Orlando City extended its four match unbeaten streak with a 2-1 road victory over FC New York.  Orlando City is now 3-1-1 (10 points) in USL PRO play.

After a scrappy opening five minutes, City took control of the first half.  In the 13th minute, City was rewarded for their domination.  Lawrence Olum got on the end of a Lewis Neal cross and headed the ball past the FC New York keeper for his first goal of the season.  City maintained possession for the remainder of the half, seeing several shots go wide or high.

The second half started off much like the first, with the Lions dominating possession.  In the 54th minute, FC New York took advantage of a defensive lapse by Orlando.  In the resulting confusion, Owen Morrison scored FC New York’s first ever regular season goal.

City responded with more attacks, but struggled to find the final ball leading to a goal.  Second-half sub Kevin Molino provided sparked the Lion attack, having a shot pushed just over the crossbar in the 72nd minute.  Orlando finally broke through in the 81st minute.  Lewis Neal, City’s leading goal scorer in the preseason, notched his first of the year on a bending left-footed free kick.

The win is City’s second straight road victory, having previously defeated Charlotte on April 16th.   The Lions return to the road next week to face expansion side Dayton Dutch Lions on Saturday, May 7th.  Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm at Miami Valley South Stadium.  The match will be broadcast on USL Live, the USL PRO’s free online video service.

Saw Julius James play for Columbus Crew. Like the way he plays defence. Agressive, solid tackles, and comfortable with the ball at his feet and under pressure.
