Williams, Daniel, Valdés named to MLSsoccer.com Team of the Week
MLSsoccer.com

The Houston Dynamo and Philadelphia Union figure prominently in the Week 7 selections for MLSsoccer.com's Team of the Week, with statement victories that have them believing they can contend for the top spots in the Eastern Conference.

The best XI from the weekend that was also features two Venezuelan forwards and the Seattle Sounders’ Brad Evans, whose shift to a new position proved a successful experiment.

GK: Stefan Frei (Toronto FC) – The lone bright spot on the TFC side that lost 3-0 to Seattle, the Swiss ‘keeper made a number of big saves that prevented even more blushes on the night for the Reds.

DF: Corey Ashe (Houston Dynamo) – He has flourished in his move from winger to left back and his work rate and speed provides more than enough coverage for playmaker Brad Davis to do his thing against DC.

DF: Carlos Valdés (Philadelphia Union) – The hard Colombian central defender registers another effective performance, neutralizing everything and everyone that came his way from San Jose.

DF: Sheanon Williams (Philadelphia Union) – The right back commanded his entire flank against San Jose, even when the Earthquakes threw Bobby Convey at him in the second half.

MF: Keon Daniel (Philadelphia Union) – The Trinidadian is not only quick and skillful. He showed poise and composure that has characterized the 2011 Union, especially when they were down a man.

MF: Dwayne De Rosario (New York Red Bulls) – His new manager, Hans Backe, raves about the Canadian as being the missing link in attacking midfield. He is all over the field against Sporting Kansas City and dishes the assist on the game-winning goal.

MF: Brad Davis (Houston Dynamo) – Fox’s Kyle Martino calls him the left-footed David Beckham and the match against D.C. United proved why: His timing and accuracy on his deliveries were lethal.

MF: Brad Evans (Seattle Sounders) – The move to the right flank against Toronto FC unleashed the attacking side of Evans and he exploded for an assist and two goals in a position in which he is sure to get another look.

FW: Alejandro Moreno (Chivas USA) – The leader of the new-look Chivas USA side is still enough of a handful up top that his manager has him operate as the lone forward and he produces to the tune of a goal and two assists vs. New England.

FW: Will Bruin (Houston Dynamo) – The early favorite for Rookie of the Year honors nets the first hat trick of 2011 and seems like the natural heir to Brian Ching. Another easy target up top for Brad Davis.

FW: Emilio Renteria (Columbus Crew) – The Venezuelan international fits the style of the 2011 Crew and has proven to be the perfect forward for its 4-5-1 formation. He works hard, runs faster and is not afraid to battle. Two goals vs. Vancouver proved it.

Manager: Dominic Kinnear (Houston Dynamo) – He has revitalized his squad with several key acquisitions without sacrificing the identity or style of his team. And moving midfielder Corey Ashe to left back has been a success. Suddenly, the Dynamo are arguably one of the deepest teams in MLS.

Honorable Mentions: Fabián Castillo (FC Dallas), Alvaro Fernandez (Seattle), Eddie Gaven (Columbus), Will Hesmer (Columbus), Kosuke Kimura (Colorado), Gershon Koffie (Vancouver), George John (FC Dallas), Ben Zemanski (Chivas USA)

This is not the Keon who played for TT last year. This one is an alien from Mars or venus or both.

See how important a coach is, under Latapy, Keon was a powder puff.

Otto went Europe, he should make a trip to the US to, Sheanon Williams is also on the team of the week and he is a solid right back, he never played for USA senior team and now should be a good time to approach him.

Flex team of the week article also meniton him, spot on Flex.

Three Philadelphia Union players receive MLS honor: A fan’s reaction
By Mark Paul (Yahoo! Sports)

Three members of the Philadelphia Union received accolades following the team's 1-0 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes on April 30.

Carlos Valdez, Sheanon Williams, and Keon Daniel were all honored as members of the MLS Team of the Week. Valdez and Williams are both defenders, and their inclusion is a great recognition of how strong that unit has been for the Union this season. For newcomer Daniel, the honor shows how much progress he has made.

Carlos Valdez has been one of the best defenders in Major League Soccer this season. He is the biggest reason that the unit has turned the corner from an awful 2010 season. The Union have allowed only two goals all season in MLS play, and Valdez is as big a reason as goalie Faryd Mondragon. Meanwhile, Williams played his best game of the season against San Jose. Williams played the right side of the field and limited every opportunity that the Earthquakes had. Add in the fact that the Union were a man down, and the performance by the two defenders was that much more impressive.

Keon Daniel was a late addition to the Union, arriving just before the season began. However, he has quickly emerged as a star in the midfield. Daniel brings a lot of speed to the team, and it has helped both the offense and defense. The midfield is better than last year, but still is not the largest strength for the Union. Daniel has brought the midfield up to a new level, and his performance against San Jose helped the team weather the man advantage that San Jose had for the entire second half.

It's great to see MLS recognize these three players, especially Williams and Daniel. They don't get the same recognition that Valdez has gotten all year. With stars like Carlos Ruiz and Sebastien Le Toux stealing headlines every week, the recognition of these players sends a message that the Union are one of the deepest teams in MLS.
The Conquering Lion of Judah shall break every chain.

Home does put man in a comfort zone ... going outside is either sink or swim ... glad he swimming .. our frustration with him was we knew what he is capable of as opposed to what he brought ... he not exactly in an environment where he could just chill and fly kite! Big up to him!
