A U.S. official says Osama bin Laden has been buried at sea. After bin Laden was killed in a raid by U.S. forces in Pakistan, yesterday, senior administration officials said the body would be handled according to Islamic practice and tradition. That practice calls for the body to be buried within 24 hours, the official said. Finding a country willing to accept the remains of the world's most wanted terrorist would have been difficult, the official said. So the U.S. decided to bury him at sea.-AP

It is a political mater stroke by Obama . His speech is multifaceted and achieves a few key things for Obama

1) It strengthens confidence US intelligence and counter terrorism capabilit...y
2) It highlights a definite change in strategy from the previous government
3) it highlights not just the fruits of that change in the removal of the top target but of a broader approach to improving security in the Iraq and Afghanistan
4) It shows himself as a strong Commander in Chief in the face of public criticism of domestic policy and some silly remarks by trump et al
5) It is also a platform for fostering national pride and extols the virtues of Americanism. His approval rating will definitely increase because of this news.

Increases in approval ratings for Presidents also tend to coincide with an uptick in economic growth due to better investor and consumer confidence.

On another note the death of OBL affects little from a security standpoint. Even the CIA reported that Al Queda was significantly weakened and that Bin Laden's span of control had diminished for some time now. Al Queda like all terrorist groups has succession planning and he definitely has already been replaced.

Hamid Karzai says search inside Afghanistan was wrong
Hamid Karzai has said the death of Osama bin Laden in a US special forces raid in Pakistan has proven Nato's search for al Qaeda inside Afghanistan was wrong.

By Ben Farmer, Kabul 12:32PM BST 02 May 2011
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/pakistan/8487794/Osama-bin-Laden-dead-Hamid-Karzai-says-search-inside-Afghanistan-was-wrong.html

The Afghan president said the death of the terror network founder in Abbottabad vindicated his long-standing criticism of Nato tactics inside Afghanistan.

He told a gathering of tribal leaders and cabinet ministers in Kabul that large numbers of innocent civilians had died in Nato raids and search operations despite his protestations the war on terror should instead be waged in Pakistan.

His former spy chief also told the Daily Telegraph he believed Pakistan had to have known of bin Laden's location and have been hiding him.

"Again and again, for years and every day we have said that the war on terror is not in Afghan villages, not in Afghan houses of the poor and oppressed," Mr Karzai said.

"The war against terrorism is in its sources, in its financial sources, its sanctuaries, in its training bases, not in Afghanistan," Karzai said.

"It was proved that we were right." The Afghan president welcomed the death as important news and said the Saudi militant leader had "paid for his actions" though emphasised he had been found "close to Islamabad" He also used the death to call on the Taliban to "learn a lesson from this" saying the movement should "refrain from fighting".

Amrullah Saleh, who ran Afghanistan's intelligence agency until last year, said bin Laden could not have lived in the town of Abbottabad without the connivance of Pakistan's intelligence agencies.

Mr Saleh said there was "no way" bin Laden could have lived in a mansion in a town populated by Pakistan's military and middle classes without the knowledge of the powerful ISI spy agency.

He said: "Does Pakistan want the whole world to believe that the intelligence agency of a nuclear state did not know Bin Laden was there?"

"If bin Laden can hide there for ten years, of course Mullah Omar [leader of the Taliban] and his Quetta Shura are nearby and can be protected," he said.
