Kraigg Braithwaith not ready.
« on: May 24, 2011, 02:38:39 AM »
Windies selectors made an error in selecting KB to open the innings,I can understand the plan for moving forward but some situations are just not right to introduce youth. This was always going to be a difficult situation even for the experienced player,KB is no Adrian Barath,he is special and has dominated regional cricket from the age of 16,KB HAS HAD ONE SEASON AT REGIONAL LEVEL AND WAS TOO INEXPERIENCED.
When he next walks to the crease if selected against India his mental strength would be tested to the limit, another failure could haunt him for a while,Ganga was a typical case in point.Keep KB away from tests for at least another season but have him on the A team.

KB made his FC debut two years ago at 16 and has scored two FC centuries in 16 matches; including scoring 73 on his debut for Barbados.

They took a chance on a strip famous for aiding batsmen. Cah blame dem, no Gayle or Barath, you really wanted to see Smith again? Won't judge him from one failed match.

Sorry bout that,I've just hit the enter button by mistake, anyway I really meant KB had his first full season this year but that is not my main point,I should have indicated that D.Hyatt should have opened with Simmons,KB may struggle against most test teams because he totally depends on defence, test teams will make short work of him at the moment, give him another 1 or even 2 seasons.Barath made it because he showed at an early age that he can take on our regional bowlers with ease,at 17 Powell and Taylor was trying their best to knock his block off but he showed that he is special,KB is not and should wait a bit longer. We do not have any special talent in the Caribbean so we go with the older more experienced player like Hyatt, its all well and good to say pick yute but that pick was a mistake.
