Nah man Solo is a good girl off the field....

Remember she is a keeper and most good keeper are slightly off as players......Just the nature of the position.

The girl was a spoiled brat, crying on the bench, and laughing when a goal scored against Scurry. Then they did ah whole program about she and she fadder. She's a spoiled brat and the USA dropped the ball by firing a coach based on ONE player. They lost alot of credibilty when they did that. Brianna spoke about it just before this game started.

They could not stop that cutarse from Brazil even if Howard was in the goal. That was coming since the year or two before.

Don't remember what the rest of the team said, but Solo was really disappointing. Scurry was a classy veteran who was pretty massive in goal for like a decade (that I can remember) in the Women's game - remember her saving the U.S. from a serious cutarse against Brazil in the olympic final of 2004...

In that game (WC semi-final '07), it doh matter who was in goal, with the form that Marta was in, the U.S. licks was book...

True but it was an indirect jab at Scurry, and it was very disrespectful especially given what Scurry and her generation of players did for U.S. women's soccer.

but again it is the manner in which it was done so lay blame on the coach

How was it done? The coach is the coach and he made a decision. Nothing is owed to anyone. So what if he pulled you off last minute?

She is a new #generationImustplay or #everybodyowesme type of thinking. She's wrong, she needed to sit down and shut up and support the team.

North Korea giving the US fits.  The gap between the top teams and the rest getting smaller all the time.

The level of play in this game better than some of what we saw in the Gold Cup.  ::)

Hope Solo

Hope Solo, US Women's National Soccer Team goalie, spoke out after being benched for their semi-final match with Brazil. When exiting the field after the losing effort by the US team, Solo had these words about Coach Greg Ryan replacing her in the starting lineup with backup goalie Brianna Scurry.
"It was the wrong decision, and I think anybody that knows anything about the game knows that," Solo said. "There's no doubt in my mind I would have made those saves. You have to live in the present. And you can't live by big names. You can't live in the past."

Why did Ryan bench Solo? We do not know the answer to that yet. Why did Solo make the comments that she did. Was it out of frustration with the team loss? Or, was it really directed more in anger at the coach because of his decision not to play her in the match? Should she have spoken out against the coaching decision? Let's look at this from a different perspective. Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith has benched starting quarterback Rex Grossman for this Sunday's game with the Detroit Lions. He is being replaced by veteran Brian Griese. If the Bears were to lose their game on Sunday and Rex Grossman went into the post game press conference and basically said the same thing about Lovie Smith and Brian Griese, the sports media would be all over Grossman. Why? The mantra would be he's not a team player. He should support his team and the coach. With Solo we are hearing that she was right to say what she did. The coach's decision was wrong. Why is it ok for Solo to say this? Because she's a woman? Because it's soccer? Or maybe it's as one radio commentator said it's because Hope Solo is hot!

Hope Solo

Former U.S. women’s national team coach Greg Ryan broke his silence this week on why he benched starting goalie Hope Solo for the semifinal game against Brazil at the Women’s World Cup in China last September.

Appearing on Fox Soccer Channel’s “Fox Football Fone-In” show Monday, Ryan admitted that he benched Solo for veteran goalie Briana Scurry, not just because he needed a more “reaction-save” goalie but because Solo had violated team rules by “missing a team dinner on the day of the England game,” and stayed out “much later” than 11 p.m. the night before that match.
“A player has to figure out how they are going to take care of themselves, and I don’t think she was doing that the right way,” Ryan said.

The 50-year-old coach faced a storm of criticism for the late goalie change and the ensuing loss 4-0 to Brazil. The controversy took on more steam when Solo publicly aired her grievances and criticized Scurry’s play in the defeat.

Ryan says he spoke to team leaders Abby Wambach and Kristine Lilly and other veterans before making the change and said they “were 100 percent” behind his decision.

“My veteran players told me over and over again that they felt much more comfortable with Briana and less so with Hope because Briana communicated well with the defense,” Ryan said.

The loss to Brazil was Ryan’s only defeat in regulation time during his 55 games at the helm of the U.S. team. He was fired after the World Cup and replaced by Swedish coach Pia Sundhage.

Ryan said he does not regret the decision, which attracted enormous media attention.

“It didn’t matter if Briana or Hope were in goal that day, Brazil played better and deserved to win,” Ryan said.

When asked why the other players didn’t speak out in his defense at the time, Ryan said: “They were so upset, not because they were angry at Hope but because their team bond had been violated and I think it’s even stronger in the women’s game, where the team comes first. … I said ‘You guys keep quiet, let me deal with this.’ ”

Ryan says he is speaking out now because in his final talk with Solo he told her that he would say “there were rule violations” if people kept asking about the incident.

“We are two or three months down the road now so maybe it’s time to bring it all out and put it on the table,” Ryan said. “It’s time to reflect on this. How should a player handle themselves in a World Cup? How should they be preparing themselves. Briana was right there on Hope’s heels ready to play that day.”

Both Scurry and Solo were named this week to the roster for the upcoming Four Nations Tournament in China from Jan. 16-20.

As for his future, Ryan said he has been in talks with helping out an unnamed national team and may be involved in the new women’s league set to start next year.

“I figure after one loss in three years I might still have a shot in coaching,” he said

The US is reduced to playing counter-attacking football.

It dos kill me how these commentators dos call a game like dey employed by the US team and ESPN is the team's personal channel. Zero attempt to  hide the fact that they want the US team to win. Oh I love how he has the gall to report that the KN players can be quite physical after one of them made a hard play on a US player. The US players are the ones rounning around as unskill cyborgs!

Can't wait for Brazil tuh cut dey arse again!
