got to see how the rest of the games go first. I like this WWC, everyone is a possible contender. I think the coach will adapt his play though.

Some of them Brazilian women playing ball like playing in the WPS influencing how they play. It is very different to see so many balls gettin hoffed up field for the forwards to chase.

yea the long balls to know one is annoying man but their passing still needs to be more crisp

Yeah don't like it. To many stagnant passing from Brazil, they are not as fluid as before when they passed off the dribble. That American "habit" is creeping into them.

Man i could only imagine of what the Eq. Guinea vs Brasil game will look like. And i also believe that the Aussies will give the Norweigians a very very tough fight.

Number 11, De Vanna or whatever her name is. Or goosh, throw away child self. Still, Brasil looked the stronger team in the second half and did enough.

People (not saying you) want to blame the long balls on the American game... how do we know that is not on the Brazilian coach... if they doing it so much?

Yeah true, in the back of my head I know the womens' game is tryining to mimic the mens' game defensively in not allowing passes behind, so the long ball can be employed to hopefully catch the defense out of shape or turning and facing their own goal.

At the same time many of the Brazilian stars play for club teams in the US that employ the long ball strategy, so the coach may be just trying to keep them comfortable and not change anything to much with the little time they spend together.

Yeah not sure what the root of it is... I dunno anything about the WPS so I cyar say.....could be many things.  Sounds like they haven't played alot of warm up matches as well, so they might not have established the kind of chemistry that results in the sort of build up play that people expect, so they're being alot more pragmatic. Who knows...

...say what allyuh want 'bout Brazi's style of team play....I say is de coach responsible fuh dat.  Cah debate their individual talent, boy, these women are head and shoulders above their peers and a rel pleasure to watch (in more ways than one ).  That goal they scored was brilliant by any standard, both on the parts of the supplier and the scorer.

France and Canada of the teams I have seen so far appear to have the two most composed and cultured defenses in how they defend and use the ball. They also coming in hard on the tackles boy.

Everything about that goal was wrong for both teams.
The initial play was the wrong pass, which was intercepted. Then that player gets caught on the ball (with a hard bat - wow, them women not taking any prisoners), the cutback was too soft, the defenders were only able to deflect it into the 6yd box, where the goalscorer was offside.

And somehow we get a goal.
