Preparations coming along well
By Shaun Fuentes (TTFF)

National Team head coach Otto Pfister has been given a vote of confidence by two of his more senior home-based players as Trinidad and Tobago continues its build up to the start of their 2014 World Cup campaign  later  this  year.

Pfister has been holding weekly training sessions at the Ato Boldon Stadium for just over two months and apart from the 18-home based players who have been regular at his sessions, he’s also had the opportunity to work with some of T&T’s European-based pros, allowing him to get up close with them as he sets about on naming his squad for the August 10th Friendly International against Haiti in Port-au-Prince.

Densill Theobald, the most senior member of the current bunch  of local-based players in training along with Stern John, say’s he regained the drive to train at the national level.

“For a while we were a bit down because we haven’t played a game since last November but it’s getting back there in terms of enthusiasm to prepare and play,” Theobald told TTFF Media.

“I can’t complain. It augers well for the future of the team. The coach seems to know what he’s about and hopefully we’re on track to getting it together for the World Cup qualification later this year.”

Clyde Leon, who captained the team at the Digicel Caribbean Cup last year has similar feelings to teammate Theobald.

“The vibes in the camp right now is really good. The guys are up for it and you can see it in the training that they are motivated to train. The overseas guys have returned with a lot of love and willingness to work hard and the local guys are feeding off that and I think it’s helping the session in terms of us pushing ourselves,” said the T&TEC player.
