The United States registered the second win in a row at the start of the World Military Championship in Brazil. They overcame Trinidad and Tobago to stay on top of Group A. Jammar Major tallied 22 points and 8 rebounds to pace the winners. Trinidad and Tobago slipped at 1-1 record after the loss.
Trinidad and Tobago ensured the better start to the game. They posted a 19:12 lead after ten minutes. The Caribbean team maintained the lead throughout the second quarter. They arrived at halftime up by 8 points 36:28. But the USA opened the third term on a 7:2 run to cut the deficit. They limited Trinidad and Tobago to just 6 points in the quarter to take an 8-point advantage into the fourth quarter. The USA boosted the gap to 13 points early in the final frame and never looked back en route to the win. Marcus Nelson (5'11''-G) and Matt McCraw (6'2''-G) delivered 11 points apiece in the victory. Cleveland Richard (6'3''-G) netted 10 points for the winners. Steven Lewis (6'4''-F) and Herdis Lewis (6'1''-G) chipped in 12 points each for Trinidad and Tobago. Wilt Vincent (6'7''-C-79) had 10 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.
