Dwarika was already way past it at that point, would have liked it if Spann had been fit to go. He was a different caliber back in 04/05.

Far as I remember between Carlos and Birchall he couldn't get a spot in the squad and he retired some months before the tournament

Thanks, dem times ah wasn on dis site so ah wasn't fully able to keep aware of what was goin on and ah alwayz wondered wha de ass went on da he couldn make de cut.

Doh try dat. Eve get drop because he had too much influence on de other players and had too much to say about de way de football was played. Nakhid, Latas, and to a lesser extent Carlos samuels were either eliminated or controlled so as not to affect or disrupt de boot camp style discipline and game plans that mr. beenhaker wanted to plant in he players heads. Ah go bet yuh money on it. I woulda like to see Nakhid, Latapy and Yorke in a triangle in de middle. DOH CARE what de score end up. Knock like dirt!

Thanks for the additional info, I had little insight into the politics of the squad then, all I knew was Eve found himself on the outside looking in despite not really suffering a huge drop in form. i know for sure he retired before the final squad for the WC was announced.
