Posted this outside of North East Stars thread because it shows how poorly football is being organised in T&T.
TTFF want $120,000 for a Director of Womans football, yet theres no money for the National Team to play friendlies and our professional teams can't play in their communities. Then there the talk of building a stadium in Beetham. Who would go there to watch football? Who would send their children there to be coached?
Why can't we allocate, on a year to year lease, grounds to clubs? The club can put together a proposal showing how they would maintain the ground, interact with and benefit the community, and raise revenue to improve facilities. The gov't could monitor progress and renew leases if satisfied.
North East could attract 2,000 to home games, generating $40,000 per match plus income from Carib beer tents and concessions. Playing in stadiums should be saved for big matches to provide a sense of occasion.
QPFC have just been formed, but because they have facilities and a home base, they have a huge advantage.
North East wanted to use their own money to build a small home stadium, but without land from gov't, they cannot proceed.
Attitudes really need to change if our football is to move forward.
