League to focus on improved coaching and attractive offence
ttproleague.com

Out of a TT Pro League Coaches Meeting on Tuesday afternoon at the League’s Office in Curepe, there was a general consensus that advanced coaching courses are needed in the development of the sport locally.

“We need to keep advancing everyday as coaches,” said Adam’s Construction San Juan Jabloteh head coach Earl Carter, one of the coaches present at Tuesday’s meeting.

“It’s a wise idea in the improvement of the game on a professional standpoint,” said League CEO Dexter Skeene. “Coaches need to be more advanced in the game and be able to impart that knowledge to the players as we look to improve the game locally.”

According to Skeene the League intends to discuss with the TTFF opportunities for the Pro League coaches to have access to advanced licence courses this season from experienced international instructors.

Skeene also shared that the coaches present also discussed the need for attractive goalmouth action, to make the game much more entertaining for fans.

Carter, a former Trinidad and Tobago international goalkeeper and US based coach, further explained that there were other deficiencies in goalkeeping and a need for advanced physiotherapy training.

Skeene assured that the League is adamant in improving all aspects of the sport in providing advanced training not only to coaches.

“Providing advanced training in all aspects of the game, even in marketing and media relations will enhance what we are doing at the League. So we are very much focused on improving as we go forward,” Skeene said.

Meantime the coaches agreed to have monthly coaches meetings in order to improve communication between the League and coaches and discuss topics that affect or improve the game.

The Conquering Lion of Judah shall break every chain.

Not to sound like I have an inferiority complex, but having men like Carter on board will help to push critical initiatives to the forefront.  Continuous development in coaching is one of them.  Many of our local coaches get certified and then stop at a certain level.  They then get left behind as the game continues to evolve.  The science of physiotheraphy is another area that we are seriously lagging behind.  That is critical to peak performance, rehabilitation, and recovery.
