Constance inducted into TT Sports Foundation Hall of Fame

SAN FERNANDO, Trinidad - Former track and field Coach Zeno Constance was among thirteen (13) persons inducted into the First Citizens Sports Foundation Hall of Fame at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Port of Spain on Wednesday (23 November).
 
Constance was the manager of TT's track and field contingent to the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. He was a founding member of Brooklyn Athletic Club (founded in 1952). Among the athletes who were members of the club were 1976 Olympic 100m gold medallist Hasely Crawford, 2004 World Indoor 60m finalist Nicconnor Alexander, 2007 Pan American Junior 400m bronze medallist/4x400 gold medallist Ade-Alleyne Forte and 1993 Pan American Junior women's 100m bronze medallist Alicia Tyson.  Martin Prime, Sybill Don Martin, Joyce Don Mora, Michael Bartholomew, Henry Noel, Carl Horsham and current athletes Melissa Daniel, Travis Fredrick and Adel Colthrust are some of the many local youngsters who were training by Constance.
 
The 80-year-old passed away in April 2008. He leaves to mourn his sons Zeno Jr. and Justin, daughter Judy, two grand children and five great grand children.

Other inductees include world Test cricket record holder Brian Lara, former Manchester United Striker Dwight Yorke and former West Indies Women's coach Anne John-Browne.
 
The Hall of Fame was established in 1984 and 181 athletes have been initiated to date.
