« on: September 10, 2011, 06:09:36 PM »
P.S. ah tort ah went on de wrong website just now ;D........ Bless Tallman and Flex on de changes. So far I like.... :beermug:

Well we have a few of our athletes in action tomorrow. This meet was part of the Golden League set-up, but got excluded from the new DL. Anyways they still have that fast track that Bolt and others lit up 2 years ago, and I am hoping it will be as kind to our athletes.

Meet website:- http://www.istaf.de/?lang=en

Mr.Gordon looks to have found his legs 2 weeks after the fact. On a positive note it should reassure his confidence that he could compete with and beat the best of them.

This might be more confirmation that we had our National Trials too close to World's!

Any Videos of races today?

I thnk that Kelly-Ann has crossed a major psychological barrier.  To beat the Jamican girls consistently augurs well for her London Olympics.  She knows she can beat them and that could only be a good thing!  As for Jehue Gordon, he has everything on his side, with 20y still ahead, and he should be the standout 400H runner in a year - a year older, wiser and stronger.
Never, never, ever give up! Go T&T Warriors!

Kirani JAMES (GRN) - AFTER RACE INTERVIEW QUOTE:
I was a little bit tired because of the travelling this week. First Daegu and then Zurich. My goal was just to run and to put on a great show for the fans. I tried to control the race and wanted to have a good finish. It worked. But the main thing was to put on a great show. I am done for this season. I have to go back to school.

It was a really good race for me. I had to stop at one hurdle, but i felt strong and could get the rhythm back. I beat the bronze medallist from the World Championship today and I did a season best, so everything is fine. I had a good chance to win today, and I made it. But there is always room for improvement. Maybe I can run a little bit faster in Brussels at the Diamond League next Friday.

I do not look at this race like this: having beat the Jamaican runners. It is all about running my own race. The time - I am not really happy about it. I hoped to run faster. But it was good that I was able to push forward and I hope to run even faster in my next race. Today I was mostly mentally tired, not so much physically. When I am in Europe, I stay in Amsterdam, but this is not my own decision, it is rather my coach who chose Amsterdam. This is my third time I come to Berlin and I really like to be here. I do not know yet how I will spend my break, I guess I will spend time with my dog Capone and with my family.

There were some very good guys in this field, so it was not easy to win. It is a wonderful feeling to get the win here. I could have pushed myself to run faster, maybe in the next race. Life changed a bit after the World Championship. The fans are cheering me here in Berlin, that is something new for me.

Kim COLLINS (SKN) - AFTER RACE INTERVIEW QUOTE:
I am very happy. It was a season best, great. But the second place is better than the time. You never know what to expect in a field with such fast guys. Maybe next race I run under ten seconds. It is coming!

Nice summary of the highlights of the meet here!

http://www.trackalerts.com/news/5698-yohan-blake-flashes-to-another-982

Yohan Blake flashes another 9.82 victory.
Monday, 12 September 2011 16:25 By Anthony Foster

Berlin, Germany (Sporting Alert) — Yohan Blake flashed to yet another 9.82 seconds victory over the 100m distance, at the 90th anniversary celebration of the ISTAF on Sunday.
Blake later told journalists, he could have gone even quicker.

The Jamaican who was crowned World Champion in Daegu, South Korea last month, equalled his 'personal best and seventh fastest time of all-time', with the win in Berlin.

However, the man who trains with Usain Bolt in Kingston Jamaica, says he could have gone 9.7 easy, if it had not been for a lazy start.

“I was a little lazy at the start here,” Blake told reporters after the race. “I could have run 9.7 easy.”

The 22-year-old will get another chance to keep his undefeated run alive, when he races in his last event of the season next week.

Blake will take on a 200m field on Friday at the Samsung Diamond League final in Brussels.

Finishing behind the Jamaican in Berlin on Sunday were Kim Collins, who won two-bronze medals at the Daegu championships - his time today was a 10.01 season’s best - and Trinidad & Tobago’s Richard Thompson, who was third in 10.08.

Michael Frater, a member of the Jamaican world-record setting 4x100m relay team in Daegu, was fourth in 10.12.

The women’s race went to World's bronze medalist Kelly-Ann Baptiste in 11.15. She defeated Sherone Simpson (11.24) and Kerron Stewart (11.28).

Grenadian world champion Kirani James cruised to victory in the men’s 400m dash in 45.33, while Jesse Williams cleared 2.33m to win the men’s High Jump.
