After Day 1 we are 7th on the table. We have a decent amount of medals but no gold

One notable question, what happened to our sprinters? Where have they gone? Mr Chinapoo won that silver medal but I don't know.

1st Gold in the boy's u-20 4x100m!
2 silvers: girl's u-20 + boy's u-17 4×100m
1 bronze: girl's u-17 4×100m

Good relay showing and well done to team TTO

One positive takeaway is that we have athletes competing in many events now example being the sprint hurdles and multi events.

Negative is our sprints are suffering. Dylan Woodruff had a strong headwind and would have probably made the final of the u20 boys 100m.

Apart from Kadeem Chinapoo, Frederick twins we don't really have any shining stars.

What happened to Shaniqua Bascombe?
Edit: She aged out of U-20 in 2022.

Trini1_2026 It was in response to what a Jamaican athlete commented after their 4x1 victory.

They are young and can talk without thinking at times. A lil friendly baker doesn't hurt.

Since we are hosting next year I hope we put on a good show but we are fair. It seems as though the Bahamas was not.

The jamaican boy said the competition was soft or something of that nature. Whether it was misconstrued/misinterpreted etc and responded to in that manner is what is sparking the debate.

Was happy to see Keeran Sriskandarajah still run for us. Had he run in his age group would have been a runaway gold. Guess he ran up for the competition.

Deeks Chinapoo eunning his mouth also.

Well let's put it this way. He did say he training to beat the JAs because one JA said the competition is soft. So Mr. Chinapoo do know he has to back up his words with action. He knows he has to train hard and produce. Good luck and plenty Blessings to him.

@Deeks don't forget about Woodruff. He ran anchor and outpaced the Jamaican. Jamaica has a slight lead and Woodruff beat the Jamaican about a half step.

Btw, Janae De Gannes BROKE the Carifta record in the long jump. How alyuh ain't mention her? She even won the Austin Sealy award and anchored one of the relay teams to silver.

Each year we sinking in this competition. Look at 2010 Carifta games and see how we slid down the table.

Plan for next year, put an emphasis on all them kids who won silver. There were about 7 events where Jamaica was just slightly better than us. This resulted in us getting the silver and Jamaica getting the Gold.

Tyrique Vincent is special. He needs good coaches around him. He has the physique to be a world class athlete.

There's around 5 or so athletes that represented TT but go to school in Jamaica. I believe they all medalled.

Dorian Charles also a multi event athlete in Jamaica. Jamaica building their sprint factory by bringing in the Caribbean talent to run in their schools. Brilliant Jamaica!!

@g.o.p. I don't know what to say what we should do to improve in the Carifta games. A TT footballer who ran HS track at QRC complained that a substantial amount primary schools are not doing PE or sports  curriculum. Many don't have sports day any more. When they do go to secondary school many or most have to do  catch up. That is why there is a paucity of TF athletes from TT.

Every event in Carifta has a least two JA. Sometimes even Bahamas has two athletes in many events. We can't even field a 4x400 girls consistently. Very few hurdles. I have never seen a pole vaulter, junior or senior. This year I did not see shot put or discuss. Javelin.

Another things is the current gangsterism in TT. It is having an effect on lots of students. Especially AfroTT kids. Videos with fights in schools. Total lack of discipline. How do we expect these children to focus on TF. And I think TF is a much harder sport than team sports.

Yeah. In Jamaica if you're fast in high school, you end up going to one of the big track and field schools. These schools are also connected to the track and field clubs in Jamaica. So there's a seemless transition from elementary to high school to college or pro. Nothing like that exists in TT in track and field.

Ato will tell you that the transition from college to pro or high school to pro is damn hard. This is one area where we lacking.

Woodruff had he not been in the heat with the -3.6m/s would have made the final in the 100m.

I would like to see more of our athletes double. Better 200m times = better 100m times.

Janae De Gannes did a phenomenal job! CR she will continue to excel!

Our number of events has increased but we still need to do more.

One strategy is maintaining the gold medalists, aiming for the silver medalists to become gold, having the bronze aim higher etc.

Training our athletes to reach for the championship records even if they don't get the record it will still Land them on a gold.
