Anyone here use Yelp.

I use it to market one of my businesses http://www.cheerfulbaskets.com, more for local search than anything else. To be honest, from stats I don't see any real results. But I'm based in Canada and I know marketers in the US who gets better results.

I assume you mean for marketing? Or as a shopping / review portal in general?

I used to be on that. They have dese Yelp Elite people dat real hardcore. Dey also do meetups every now and again - free drinks and food. De vendors give dem a lot of comps. But de scene kinda weird.

Dey seem to be doing well with resto reviews etc.

yea the restaurants give out freeness since reviews (good or bad) helps with website rankings. Google etc use this to determine (one of the considerations) for general and local search rankings in results when you do a search. SEO guys hire cheap labor to post reviews to manipulate rankings.
