Week 16 NewsCaptain's Back
Fulhamfc.com Share Martin Jol delivered the latest team news on Friday afternoon and revealed that captain Danny Murphy is fit and available for Saturday’s Barclays Premier League encounter with Bolton Wanderers at Craven Cottage.
“Danny Murphy is back which is good,” said Jol. “He’s 100% fit.
“Zdenek Grygera, Mark Schwarzer, Simon Davies and Steve Sidwell are unavailable. Hopefully Steve Sidwell will be able to join us back in training next week.
“Simon is out this weekend because he has a little back problem. Last week he played for the first time in four or five months. I have to be careful with him.
"Today he was training and involved but he had to drop out because of a back problem. I don’t expect him to be out for long.”
Leighton Baines Disciplinary Update
fantasyfootballscout.co.uk Following on from our earlier tweet regarding Leighton Baines’ yellow card situation, we bring you a quick update:
The FA have in the last few minutes confirmed to us that Baines’ disciplinary record shows 3 bookings this season; vs Chelsea Oct 15, vs Norwich Nov 5 and Wolves Nov 19.
The FA have confirmed that these are his only bookings this season and therefore he is two yellow cards away from a ban, not one as stated by Everton’s recent team news article on their official website.
Our suspension tightrope and Members Player Discipline table is therefore also correct.
Good news, then, ahead of tomorrow’s home clash with Norwich and reassuring for the 6% of Fantasy managers currently holding the left-back with a home clash against Swansea also to follow on Wednesday.
African Cup of Nations Reminder
fantasyfootballscout.co.uk There’s no doubt that the upcoming African Cup of Nations looks a little easier to plan for Fantasy managers this time round. The qualifying campaign was filled with shocks aplenty- Egypt, winners of the last three tournaments, were omitted, as were the likes of Cameroon and Nigeria, sparing several key Fantasy assets from leaving these shores over the winter period.
The tournament is due to kick off on January 21st but FIFA rules means that the participants can call up their players fourteen days prior to the opening match. Given that the final is not until February 12th, this potentially means players could be absent from domestic duties from gameweek 21 to gameweek 25 inclusive.

Everton look likely to welcome back Royston Drenthe and Jack Rodwell. Bobby Zamora has picked up a knock for Fulham, who welcome back skipper Danny Murphy. Cheick Tiote has a slim chance of returning for Newcastle, who are still sweating on the availability of captain Fabricio Coloccini. Suarez decision delayed (December 16, 2011)
By ESPNsoccernet staffThe FA have announced a decision in the case between Liverpool's Luis Suarez and Manchester United's Patrice Evra will not be made before Tuesday December 20th at the earliest.
Suarez, 24, was charged by the Football Association with abusing Evra and referring to his "ethnic origin and/or colour and/or race'', and has faced two days of disciplinary hearing, with a verdict now expected.
The complaint was made after the 1-1 draw between the sides at Anfield on October 15, but formal proceedings in front of an independent three-man panel only started on Wednesday. More aspects of the case were discussed on Thursday.
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish and the club have been fully supportive of their player. Indeed, Dalglish did not waver when asked about the case at his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday's Premier League match at Aston Villa.
"We are standing right beside him and helping him as much as we possibly can,'' said the Scot. "We have said many times before we cannot say anything which will be prejudicial.
"After it's finished there is a chance to have a conversation. As I said last week the FA should have given you (the media) the information when everything was happening, not us.''
If Suarez, who has always denied the allegations, is found guilty he could be banned or fined, or both.
