Islanders hold Caledonia.
T&T Express Reports.
Trinidad and Tobago's Caledonia AIA opened their Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Champions challenge with a 0-0 draw against two-time defending CFU Club Champions Puerto Rico Islanders on Monday night at Annett Field, Cayman Islands.
The tournament was hit by the late withdrawal of Haitian champs Baltimore Sportif. Caledonia were supposed to play the Haitians on Monday.
As a result of Baltimore's withdrawal, the tournament will now be contested between Caledonia, Puerto Rican Islanders and Cayman club George Town, with the top two teams in the group advancing to the next round.
Caledonia AIA, currently with one point, meet George Town SC from 9.30 tonight, while Puerto Rico Islanders and George Town end the series on Friday night. A victory tonight will see Caledonia through to the next round.
The group opened Monday night with the goalless draw between Caledonia and the Islanders, a match played in a downpour. More than eight inches (20 centimetres) of rain fell on Grand Cayman on Monday, forcing the closing of all public primary and secondary schools Tuesday.
