Unfortunately RT had an injury setback with his hip/groin since the end of March and has been trying to regain fitness. It has acted up again and he will therefore forego the Manchester meet to seek treatment back home.

Well that sucks to hear. Even though a part of me wonders how much did it really heal the first time considering that he had looked average at best on every relay and open race he has participated in so far. Hope he gets good treatment this time and if needs be don't worry to race until Nationals to allow sufficient time for recovery and to regain some of the training time that will/has been lost.

Nice times from the ladies. I hope to see im ;Dprovement when Sparkle Mcknight and Janeil Bellille move to their Div 1 colleges. Great to see Reyare Thomas run that time she can only get better I see low 11.2's/high 11.1's by national camps adding a bit more depth to the ladies sprints.

Very encouraging results place wise.

Hopefully they can reproduce or better those times at this year's trials/champs.

Lucas and Bellile should push each other to respective season bests and Reyare Thomas will bolster the 4x100m ranks at least for the rounds or in case of injuries. Will be an interesting battle between her and MLA in the 100m and KS and SH in the 200m

Right now Lucas and Bellile need to focus on getting the A standard. Well at least one of them. The Nationals might not be competitive enough to push them towards the A standard.

I am pleased with how Callendar and Bledman are progressing but I am slightly worried about Burns and Thompson at this point but have faith that they will both step up and be back to their fastest by national trials.

Also we need at least two fast back up sprinters for our 4 x 100m relay squad in case of injury and such so I am speculating as to who those two extra male sprinters will be.
So far Brown is not looking good at all and I am not sure if Rondell or one of our other 200m guys can step up speed wise for the 5th and 6th spots on our 4 x 100m relay squad.

What you guys think?

I think the key to an Olympic 4x100m medal at this point is flawless relay passing. I do not think we are going to have anyone running 9.8x come the Olympics, maybe one or more in the 9.9s.

With all the mishaps that can befall teams with excessive talent including Jamaica or the USA, teams like St. Kitts, Japan, Australia, South Africa, France, UK can easily slot in for any of the 3 medals because they understand that they cannot rely on winning a medal with just speed, and tend to invest the time and money to run their teams in different combinations, several times before championships moreso than the "big name" teams.

We need to come to that realization real quick if we want "A" medal on the men's side because though we might reach the finals of the 100, 200, 400, 110H, 400H, prospects of medalling aren't looking very strong at the moment (let's see how the trials turn out). However both the men's 4x100m and 4x400m teams as units look medal-worthy on paper, short of the investment above.

I do not think we have a worthy 6th man in the 4x100m. Putting Morain or even Brown based on results to-date will put our chances of advancing to the semis or final at risk. However adding just Sorillo to the mix makes experimenting with combinations a little less complicated than say for the US or Jamaica with their depth of talent.

By the way, there were a few solid performances by T&T athletes at the Quantum Games. Following are excerpts from today's Express:

1. Keshorn Walcott erased a 16-year-old national record from the books. The 19-year-old Trinidad and Tobago athlete produced a huge 78.94 metres replacing Kirt Thompson in the record books in the process. Walcott was just 56 centimetres short of the 79.50m Olympic B standard.

2. Though Ayanna Alexander was the only competitor in the women's triple jump, she was not short on motivation. The T&T athlete disturbed the sand at 14.15m—a new national record.

3. Machel Cedenio was in a race of his own in the boys' under-20 400m, the T&T athlete completing his one lap of the track in a personal best 46.73 seconds.

4. Ronnie Ash emerged victorious in the men's 110m hurdles in a wind-aided 13.26 seconds. T&T's Mikel Thomas earned silver in 13.31.

Some great results!

MLA came 3rd in the 100. Had a poor start and technique but still managed 11.24...If she attends to those things she is running 11.0x easy. The video is available on YouTube. I can't post it because I'm on my phone but it's under, '100 races at Quantum Games 2012'.

Yeah. Its unfortunate that things are not working out in DB's favor right now. He will be running in some small meets before Nationals. Hope things improve for him soon... I think he will show up for Nationals.
