That is not his PB time and conditions were bad.
Plus no one was arguing that Lalonde is going to make the Olympic 400m final, who argued that?

Lets get pass National Trials first and then we can speculate about who can make finals come Olympics.  :beermug:

Blake looked worst than he did last week. The conditions were good enough for a sub 10. Donovan Bailey was on the radio this morning.. was expecting Blake to run something really good. I guess he was wrong. Many were expecting a low 9.9s or even 9.8s.

If you are referring to Blake then 9.84 is his SB but he ran 10.05 when folks were expecting a low 9.9x or even a high 9.8x from him in that race because conditions were good.

TT like kicks yes!  ;D

Semoy and Kai may not have the most fresh legs right now, but I expected a way better time than that from this squad. However they did get some valuable stick practice.

T&T women in record run
Kwame Laurence
Story Created: Jun 18, 2012 at 11:36 PM ECT

Kai Selvon, Kelly-Ann Baptiste, Semoy Hackett and Michelle-Lee Ahye combined for a new women's 4x100 metres national record, at the Thomas Robinson Classic in Nassau, Bahamas, on Saturday.

The Trinidad and Tobago quartet won in 43.21 seconds, shaving one-hundredth of a second off the 43.22 standard, established at the 2009 World Championships, in Berlin, Germany.

Bahamas finished a distant second on Saturday in 44.38 seconds, while third spot was copped by Dominican Republic (45.01).

T&T also topped the qualifying round, Selvon, Baptiste, Hackett and Ahye getting the baton round the track in 43.35 seconds. The T&T women are bidding for Olympic qualification.

Another T&T sprinter, Ayanna Hutchinson, finished fourth in the women's invitational 100m dash in a wind-assisted 11.56 seconds. Virgil Hodge, of St Kitts and Nevis, won in 11.30, beating Dominican Republic sprinters, Marielys Sanchez (11.41) and Fany Chalas (11.47) into second and third, respectively.

At the Rice All Comers Meet, in Texas, USA, last Thursday, T&T sprinter Aaron Armstrong topped the men's 100m field in 10.35 seconds.

Last Wednesday, Melissa De Leon returned a time of two minutes, 05.20 seconds to finish second in the women's 800m, at the American Milers Club (AMC) Meet 3, in Indiana. And on Saturday, at the AMC Meet 4, the T&T half-miler was sixth in 2:04.11.

Also on Saturday, at the Donovan Bailey Invitational, in Edmonton, Canada, Chris Hercules bagged bronze in the men's triple jump. The T&T athlete jumped a wind-aided 15.90 metres.

Two Sundays ago, at the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Invitational, in St Kitts, Hutchinson seized silver in the women's 100m dash in 11.58 seconds. Another T&T sprinter, Aaliyah Telesford clocked 12.04 to finish fourth. Hodge earned gold in 11.39, while bronze went to Grenada's Janelle Redhead (11.78).

In the women's 100m "B" race, T&T sprinters Kamaria Durant, Lisa Wickham and Shauna Mason finished first, third and fourth, respectively, clocking 11.72, 11.82 and 11.83. And in the 200m, Durant copped second spot in 23.54 seconds, finishing behind Redhead (23.21) and ahead of Hodge (23.58).

T&T's Moriba Morain got to the line in 10.41 seconds to cop fourth spot in the men's 100m dash.

Kim Collins led a St Kitts and Nevis medal sweep, the 2003 world champion clocking 10.09 to finish ahead of BJ Lawrence (10.21) and Jason Rogers (10.26).

T&T teenager Jonathan Holder produced a 21.79 seconds run to finish fourth in the men's 200m "B" race. Antiguan Tahir Walsh (21.26), and Vincentians Courtny Bascombe (21.52) and Courtney Williams (21.60) were first, second and third, respectively.

Morain, Joel Dillon, Holder and Le-Sean Noel combined for second spot in the men's 4x100m relay in 40.05 seconds. St Kitts and Nevis (39.74) finished first.

And in the women's sprint relay, the T&T quartet—Hutchinson, Telesford, Durant and Wickham—clocked 45.13 seconds to secure bronze, behind St Kitts and Nevis (44.90) and Grenada (44.95).

Yesterday at a warm-up meet for tomorrow's DL meet in Paris. Quite frankly that is a ridiculous drop off from Nationals. He could have trained right through the meet, so lets see what he does tomorrow.

It may have been a training run (working on part(s) of his race), or you never know, the effects of jet lag. Newman from the US is also a much better sprinter than 10.45, so I do not think the times are indicative of the athletes' capabilities.

As you mentioned, let's see how he performs tomorrow

At any rate Kim Collins seems to have RT's number over the last year or so in most races where they clash.
Hopefully RT was jet lagged or something.   :-\

Thompson takes third place in Reims 100m
Published: Friday, July 6, 2012
Clayton Clarke

Reigning Olympic 100 metres silver medallist Richard Thompson finished third in the men’s 100-metre event at the Reims International Meeting in Reims, France yesterday. Thompson clocked 10.26 seconds to finish behind American Michael Rodgers 10.18 seconds, former World Champion Kim Collins (St Kitts) 10.22. The 27-year-old ran in his first race since losing his national crown to Keston Bledman (9.85 to 9.96). The 2008 NCAA 60/100 champion will next run at the Aviva Diamond League Meeting in Paris later today. He will face former world champions Tyson Gay and Justin Gatlin, both of the USA and European champion Christophe Lemaitre (France). Jehue Gordon will hope to be among the starters in the men’s 400m hurdles. The 2010 World Junior champion missed the National Championships due to a thigh injury.

It is looking more and more like Richard has not benefitted and in fact may have gone backwards since moving to John Smith's camp.
Hopefully he proves us all wrong come London Olympics as he is supposed to be our 2nd best 100m sprinter at present and folks were looking for RT to at least make the 100m final.
