Documents show Warner as owner.
T&T Guardian Reports.

Documents obtained by the T&T Guardian have shed new light on the ownership of the Joao Havelange Centre of Excellence, the multi-million-dollar football facility at Macoya.

They show that the centre, built on just over seven acres of land, is jointly owned by two companies—CCAM and Co Ltd and Renraw Investments Ltd.

Renraw is “Warner” spelt backwards. The company’s annual return for 2011 lists Warner, his wife, Maureen and son Daryan as directors of Renraw Ltd.

Warner and Renraw also took out multi-million-dollar mortgages on the centre. The Centre of Excellence is the subject of a legal battle between FIFA, the world governing body for football, and Warner, who is a former president of Concacaf and the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) and a vice-president of FIFA.

FIFA said last month it plans to take legal steps to recover the ownership of the centre, said to be worth US$25.5 million, which FIFA says it funded. FIFA said the centre was signed over to Warner’s family firms. Warner, however, has said it belongs to the CFU.

Warner resigned as an executive member of FIFA last year during an investigation into the bribing of CFU officials at a meeting held in Port-of-Spain with Mohammed bin Hammam, a Qatari football administrator who had said he planned to run for election as FIFA president. In July 2011, FIFA’s Ethics Committee banned bin Hammam from football-related activities for life.

The T&T Guardian has obtained a copy of a registered mortgage document, dated July 2007, that shows Warner was one of the borrowers. His family firm Renraw Investments Ltd is also listed, and Warner signed the statement as a director of Renraw. The property was mortgaged three times according to the official documents, firstly on August 10, 1998, for $2 million, then on September 18 for US$475,000 and thirdly, in 2007 for $11 million.

Warner signed the first and third mortgages. Warner could not be reached for comment yesterday. He is in Tobago with his Cabinet colleagues for a People’s Partnership Government retreat and did not answer calls to his cellphone.

About the centre

The land on which the Centre of Excellence stands was first owned by West Indian Oil Industries Ltd, then acquired by Lever Brothers in 1963. It was transferred to Renraw Investments Ltd in March 1996. The centre was named after former president of the world body Dr Joao Havelange of Brazil and was opened in 1998.

The centre includes a swimming pool, a “garden sanctuary,” a fitness centre, a hotel, an 800-capacity theatre, a banquet and reception hall, and several other meeting halls. The Marvin Lee Stadium is also part of the centre.

Statement of charge

The statement of charge, a document related to a mortgage application, dated June 25, 2007, under Section 251 of the Companies Act, 1995 states: “Memorandum of Mortgage dated the 4th of June two thousand and seven made by CCAM and Company Ltd and Renraw Investments Ltd (Mortgagors) the said CCAM and Company Ltd, Renraw Investments Ltd, the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) CCAM and Company Ltd, Jack Austin Warner and the Dr Joao Havelange Centre of Excellence (the borrowers) in favour of First Citizens Bank Ltd.”

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

The 6th paragraph should really have contained reference to Gibbs "threadbare" investigation and the statement he made misleading the public about the DPP's findings. It should also have demanded a full public investigation, but of course, that won't happen.

Although this story was just a rewrite of Lasana's original, its good that the Guardian actually decided to print it. Unfortunately, Lasana's work isn't reaching the wider public, so at least the Guardian's repetition will get a bigger audience. Would have been nice if they acknowledged Wired868!

You know what, I may seem a bit harsh on the Guardian, but I am not impressed. You are a day late and a dollar short. Want to impress somebody with your lackadaisical investigative reporting, do some real investigative work. Some of us already know Wacko was lying about not being the owner of the COE.

This same individual was in action recently. This is Wacko's response to questions posed to him in Parliament.

Warner tells parliament he gave Haiti US$960,000.
Former FIFA Vice President Jack Warner told Trinidad’s Parliament yesterday that he has adequately accounted for the nearly US$1 million entrusted to him as a post-earthquake donation for Haiti.
Haitian officials told British newspaper The Sunday Times that they received only $60,000 of the $750,000 pledged by FIFA and South Korean football leader Chung Mong-joon for football-related rebuilding projects.

Want to impress me? Investigate that.

Sorry, I probably didn't phrase that correctly. Lasana is well respected internationaly, and many overseas papers watch his site for stories (remember the players seizing TTFF assets?).

The wider audience I was referring to was here in T&T. Or more significantly, the voters.

You see Jack told the people of Tobago not to vote for PNM because they had unaccounted for just over $100 million in 2005. But nobody pointed out that he done exactly the same in 2006! He spoke about spending not being supported by documents. He said corruption with public funds was rampant and was being used to enrich private citizens.

Now, as a Cabinet Minister, he is just doing his job, highlighting the inadequacies of the opposition. However, where I have a problem is that this "missing taxpayers money" is being investigated and I believe there will be a forensic audit. Good. Thats what is needed. However, all of the accusations against Jack fall by the wayside.

The double standards are incredible. Yet the voters only hear one side. If the papers covered Lasanas stories the same way, maybe some balance will be restored.

Hey man, just reading this...check my facebook status:

Imagine Jack Warner telling people in Tobago not to vote for PNM due to their inability to account for over $100 million in 2005. Yet this is a man that has failed to account for that same amount in 2006!! But nobody pointed out that he done exactly the same in 2006!

Jack you are pot calling kettle black! Imagine your unmitigated gall...saying that public funds are being used to enrich private citizens, YET...you cannot account for over 100million dollars given to football in T&T and I can put my head on the block that YOU..Austin Jack Warner and YOUR family, were enriched by public funds!

What moral authority does a man like Jack Warner have to talk about thievery, graft and corruption?

How does a Cabinet member and the Chairman of the leading party open his mouth to bad mouth anyone when he has many matters pending before the courts dealing with corruption, missing money and thievery?

Meanwhile the impotent police and the useless and limp so-called press continue to coddle and suck up to this man!

The CFU was crying the other day that they don't have any money in their bank account.
The ttff complaining that they are broke, there's no money in their bank account.
The Haitian federation saying they never got all the money that was allotted to them.
These three organizations have one common thread that they are accusing. Jack Warner.
Jack still has the keys to his house and the deed to his land. Assets that should be seized.
He still has access to his bank accounts that he can withdraw money from at anytime.
He has his freedom to walk the streets when he should be in jail for contempt of court.
No one has been able to sue Renraw for missing funds.
If that is not catching a break then I don't know what is.

Recently, I saw this news article where this joker invited all the news reporters in Trinidad that he liked to a dinner party where he named each reproter's plate after each and every one of them. At the moment, I didn't think it was cute nor did I think it was a dinner party, it smelled more like a bribe to me. I had never seen anything like it before where a politician gathers all the news reporters he likes under the guise of dinner to bias their opinion of him, of course, the few he didn't invite he accused them of writing stories that were not balanced, in effect saying that their stories were unbiased and filled with lies.
Listen, I realized a long time ago that everything this joker says about someone is basically describing himself. He is telling on himself in broad daylight. It's up to the police, the press, the DPP, the so called Integrity Commission, which is another story in itself, and the people of Trinidad and Tobago, Tobago is another story in itself, to pick sense out of nonsense. This clown makes me sick.

Just saw something on the news about Gibbs further investigating Warner and the comments made by DPP. Something about ongoing evaluation of CoP. Will look out for more details to post.

Ok, now seems that PSC are investigating Gibbs actions!
