Yea right, that will never happen.....

I figure, the Concacaf CC is being run in 2012/13 so I started off a thread for all league fixtures and then I will add in the pro league's when I get it.

Now de Pro League knows de Concacaf Champions League fixtures in advance, lets see if they could plan around it and not have a million cancellations like always.

We could never organise anything properly.

Police players Williams, Marshall warded at hospital after vehicular accident
ttproleague.com.

Police FC attacking players Noel Williams and Akeem Marshall are both warded at the Port of Spain General Hospital following a vehicular accident early Saturday morning.

Williams, 28, suffered injuries to his head and right shoulder, while Marshall, 23, sustained a broken left arm and is expected to be discharged by Monday afternoon.

Williams via telephone told ttproleague.com on Monday morning that he is yet to know the full extent of his injuries, but could confirm that his head is wrapped in bandages and that his shoulder needs surgery.

Meantime Marshall’s left arm is said to be broken in three places.

According to Marshall who also spoke via telephone from his hospital bed, the accident happened around 3:30am Saturday near the St. Anthony’s traffic lights along the Western Main Road in Westmoorings, in which a Toyota Prado slammed into the right side of the car, the two Special Reserve Policemen were occupants of.

It is understood that the female driver of the car suffered injuries to her hip and back, while another female seated on the front passenger seat remained unhurt.

The quartet was heading to Chaguaramas for a ‘boat cruise’ lime. Officers of the St. James Police Station are said to be conducting investigations.

I'm now hearing that T&TEC are definately in the League with employees only playing and running the team. I also heard that someone has rescued San Juan Jabloteh and they also should be competing. If Central F.C. are accepted, there will be a 9 team league, which can only be a good thing.

The Jabloteh rescue will be great news. But For a so-called professional league to accept T&TEC which only plays employees seems to signal an inherent (conflict of interest). How are they going to be competitive without seeking to buy/trade-for the best team they can field?

I wish T&T Pro League the best.

As I understand it, the first Pro League games are on 14th September.

Central F.C. have been confirmed and their first game is against W.connection, but it's been pushed back to 25th September to accomodate their Concacaf fixture on 18th September. However, W.Connection play another Concacaf game on 26th September, so I would imagine the game vs Central will be postponed again. A cup competition is scheduled for 21st Sept.

I would like to register a complaint against the site mods.....How can I vote for Central?  ???

League CEO: Good enough is not good enough.
ttproleague.com.

A strong but valiant message was shared by TT Pro League CEO Dexter Skeene during the launch of the 2012-2013 Digicel Pro League Championship on Thursday afternoon.

“Good enough is not good enough,” expressed Skeene during his opening speech at the Hasely Crawford Stadium VIP Lounge.

“Our coaches and players must climb out of their individual and collective comfort zones. If we believe we are good enough, we have to redefine that perspective.

The club owners and management staff, the Board of Directors, the administrative staff, match commissioners, referees and last but not least, my good self. We must all reengineer our thoughts and attitudes.

It may be a trite cliché but it remains relevant; if it is to be, it is up to us.”

The 2012-2013 League Championship kicks off on Friday 14 September with a double header at the Hasely Crawford Stadium when St. Ann’s Rangers takes on 2010-2011 winner Defence Force from 6pm and two hours later (8pm), Caribbean Football Union Club Championship winner, Caledonia AIA will take on North East Stars.

On Saturday Round One Match Day One continues with Police FC against last season’s electrifying debutant and runner-up, T&TEC FC, from 5pm.

Meantime Central FC’s opening championship fixture against defending champion, W Connection, is set for Tuesday 2 October due to the Couva based club’s CONCACAF Champions’ League commitment.

“In striving to improve significantly we must embrace change and new ideas,” continued Skeene. “It is no longer about an insular look at things but each and every day we must demand of ourselves answers to the fundamental question: That is, are we doing enough to ensure that the TT Pro League is an exciting, high quality experience for our fans and those who we want to encourage to attend games?

What I am saying is that this season we have to accept full responsibility for improving every aspect of what we do and offer to T&T.”

The former T&T striker said that this is the season when every stake holder in the TT Pro League must respond to every single challenge with clear minded determination. He echoed, “Hard work beats talent that will not work hard all the time.”

Digicel (Trinidad and Tobago)Sponsorship and Promotions Manager, Wendy Alleyne spoke on behalf of the League title sponsor saying, “Digicel is proud to continue its partnership with the TT Pro League , an organization which has clearly demonstrated its commitment to elevating and advancing the sport of football while providing opportunities for local players to develop themselves and talents on a national level.

The Digicel Pro League as now gained the reputation as the place where the nation’s best compete and this year is no exception. We take this opportunity to commend the league and its officials for their efforts and look forward to a thrilling, exciting talent-filled 2012-2013 season.”

Skeene praised the mobile network company for its ongoing commitment saying, “In 2009, our partner and title sponsor, Digicel joined the quest to develop, grow and nurture a sustainable professional football league. Their support, guidance and sharing of ideas have proven that Digicel understands the difference between sponsorship and partnership. They understand mutual respect for brand values and brand equity.”

Digicel also made a play further up field by unveiling artwork for an official Cooler Fridays’ mascot.

Alleyne said, “While the focus is undoubtedly on the field, we also believe that there is an entertainment aspect that we are aiming to build on. With this in mind we will be further supporting the (Super) Fridays and (Fiesta) Saturdays that were launched last season. We will not have an official Cooler Fridays mascot who will be the guru of the Digicel Pro League—always equipped with trivia on players, teams and of course Digicel paraphernalia.”

The League also took the opportunity on Thursday to recognize past T&T Men’s Senior Team captains Everald ‘Gally’ Cummings, Selris Figaro, Angus Eve and Clayton Morris by presenting the former players with a League Season Pass each.

A long way to go.

Local football fans have long yearned to hear the National Anthem at a prestigious event watched by the world and have instead been confronted with the bitter disappointment of the national football team losing in the early rounds of FIFA World Cup qualification. The disappointment quickly turns to chagrin and frustration, leaving many to debate what we are doing wrong to hamper our development.

In the last few years we have seen the emergence of ‘big money’ tournaments such as the currently ongoing LIME Pelican Football Challenge and the upcoming annual David Thompson Classic, where both the prize money and public enthusiasm is high. But the question remains, do these ‘off-season’ tournaments and the league in its current state really contribute to the development of the local sport? Can we envision that a few years from now, there will be continued heightened interest in the local game, the emergence and harnessing of young talent and the keen challenge for various regional, CONCACAF and the ultimate, the World Cup? Most successful football associations and leagues around the world have deep-seated history and unwavering support for the local club, which began with facility and stadia implementation, followed by heavy investment in developmental programmes and stadia and intelligent marketing campaigns to endear the world to their brand of football.

Minister of Sports Youth and Culture, Stephen Lashley, recently lauded the LIME Pelican challenge as an opportunity for Barbados to showcase its footballing excellence. He added that it is the Government’s aim for such popular sports to increase their profiles by combining sports and culture to create a product to attract a regional and global audience.

Realistically, in order to do that, the quality on the pitch has to be there and many will argue that we have a long way to go. He seems to be suggesting that the standard will improve as our best annually pit themselves against each other with the added incentive of a significant prize. Hearing from football enthusiasts, it is clear some do not share this view, preferring to point in the direction of our close southern neighbours, Trinidad & Tobago, who have managed to be extremely successful with World Cup qualification in 2006, and the stellar individual careers from the likes of Dwight Yorke, Kenwyne Jones, Russell Latapy, Stern John and others. Barbados, on the other hand, has come nowhere close to this level of reward.

Having been the first Caribbean nation to have a professional football league, Trinidad and Tobago had significant success with their programme, a system where their school, semi-professional and professional leagues are very popular and well run.

Their TT Pro League was founded in 2002 to strengthen the twin republic’s national team and improve the development of domestic players and just three years later, the national team qualified for the FIFA World Cup – most likely not a coincidence. Pro League clubs, working by a business model that features front and backroom staff and inclusive of well-trained coaches, are able to effectively establish themselves on the talents of homegrown players, with many of its stars departing for more prominent leagues in Europe and North America. The key, is that each club is required to have a home stadium, which is properly set up to allow for the collection of gate receipts and the essential well-maintained, international standard playing field. These details are important because a lot of that groundwork resulted in that country’s spot in the World Cup Finals in Germany.

Back at home, these two competitions will be of simultaneous supreme focus in the coming weeks, but while they do much to raise the domestic sport’s profile – and that is a very good thing to have happen – they must be accompanied with a year-round programme that encompasses the grassroots level to the top tier of Barbadian talent so that we can one day relish the sight of our Bajan boys and girls walking out onto a World Cup pitch.
The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.
