Was told by one of the players that Tobago won the game 2-1 against Real Dimension.

The younger Tobago team lost to Rangers by a similar score line 2-1 in a game played in Tobago this afternoon(Sunday).

Real Dimension defeats Trincity Nationals 5-2.
WoLF Release.

Both teams started off very intensely with nice passes and good dribbling skills on show. Real D Capt., Janine Francois would take a kick start; in the 4', receives the ball and turns her defender nicely with a finesse shot straight to goal.

This did not slow down Trincity Nationals and in the 8', Shanisa Camejo would get a through pass from the mid-field that would leave her 1 on 1 with Keri Myers who tried to intercept the pass but Camejo would get their first and with great technical poise, chipped Myers to get the equaliser for her team.

The game would be a midfield battle and both teams trying to stamp their authority in the game. Real D would get the nudge in the 25' when Dernelle Mascall dribbles through  the defenders and gets off a powerful shot that Tracia Pascall just could not stop.

Real Dimension would start to get the better of Trincity and would display strong passing and individual skills. In the 40', Rhea Belgrave would finish from a cross from a free kick and Dimension would close off the half in the 42' minute when Afuyah Matthias showed that even as a defender she has some striker instinct when she 'capped' one defender and got around 2-3 v defenders in a crowded 6 yard box and tucked it away with the outside of her foot.

The second half started off Trincity determinde to gain some momentum that would get them on the score sheets and in the 67' Myers would foul Shanelle Warrick in the box and Trincity would be awarded a penalty. Shanelle would step up to take the penalty and send Keri Myers the wrong way with a well placed shot past her left side.

In the 85', Janine Francois would seal the match after dribbling several defenders and cleverly cutting back to make a decisive pass to Tasha St. Louis waiting at the top of the 6 yard box and place it past the Trincity Custodian.

FYI

There are 13 teams in the first division and because of time and financial constraints the league managers decided to zonalize this division. They will play 2 rounds in each zone with home and away matches.

After that, the top 2 from each zone and the 2 best third place teams will play in a big 8 knockout tournament to determine the winners of the First Division. The top 2 teams will then be promoted to the Premier Division for the 2013 season.

At this time, there will be no relegation as they're trying to build the numbers in the top division; the premier division should have 8 for the 2013 season.

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

Pellerud steps in to sponsor WoLF big-4.

Pellerud steps in to sponsor WoLF big-4.
By: Shaun Fuentes (TTFF).

The “Big Four” Finals of the Trinidad and Tobago Women’s League Football (WOLF) welcomed a new sponsor on Monday in TTFF Women’s Technical Director Even Pellerud.

The Norwegian-born coach who led this country’s Under 17 Women’s Team at the 2010 FIFA Under 17 Women’s World Cup, offered to support the tournament after finding out that the League organizers were considering calling off the tournament due to a lack funding.

The two days of action will take place on August 2nd and 4th at a venue to be announced. The fixtures will also be released shortly by the league organizers.

Currently the league has 420 registered Women players among the 19 teams. Real Dimension were crowned the FA champions with a win over Trincity Nationals at the Hasely Crawford Stadium last Thursday and the league has drawn considerable interest across the country. This was enough to convince Pellerud to step in.

“A League for women’s football is vitally important to the development of the game in any country and particularly here in Trinidad and Tobago,” Pellerud told TTFF Media.

“It has been tried before and was okay but not great. But this year the people behind WOLF have been doing a good job. You can see another level of play.

A lot of teams are coming out and on time, the refereeing  has been good and the organization as well. This is all due to the leadership behind it. I was starting to look forward to the Big Four for a chance to see the best players in the country and then I suddenly heard it would be cancelled and I was disappointed.

“This prompted me to step in and help out… put some cash into it so that we have this final tournament. I asked Jinelle (James) and Sharon (Obrien) how much they were lacking and they gave me a figure and I was able to make the contribution,” Pellerud added.

TTFF marketing manager Anthony Harford disclosed last week that Pellerud was among the TTFF coaches who have gone unpaid for some time. But this did not deter the ex-Canada coach from contributing.

“It’s crucial now especially with the problems and the long term financial issues we have in the TTFF and now we have this League stepping up and filling the gap for the young girls and the senior players. We had such a good system in place before which suddenly was collapsing before us and thankfully this League came into play to help us save a generation of women footballers in this country. That in itself was sufficient reason to offer some support,” he added.

The winners of the Big Four will take home $4,000, runners up $2,000, third place $1,000 and fourth place $1000. Other tournament related costs will also be met by Pellerud.

President of the Women’s League Sharon O’Brien expressed gratitude on behalf of the League to Pellerud for his generous offering and promised to see the season finish on a high with the Big Four challenge.

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

Women’s football to kick off April 21.
By Andrew Gioannetti (Guardian).

Nineteen (19) teams will take up the challenge in what is expected to be a thrilling campaign in the 2012 Women’s League Football (Wolf), T&T’s top two women’s football leagues, when it kicks off on April 21.

The competition which did not come off in 2011 because of financial constraints, has increased its number of clubs, and will feature a premier division consisting of five teams, including reigning champions Real Dimension FC, Malick City FC, Trincity Nationals, Defence Force FC, and the University of the West Indies (UWI) FC.

The number of clubs competing has increased by six from 2010—the last time the league was challenged. Teams will also compete in a Big-Four tournament as well as an FA Competition, and a Zonal Classic competition, following the end of the league campaign.

The three First Division Zones, the East (Malabar Superstars, Tunapuna Titans, Arima Giants FC, St Augustine SC and Sweaters Touring Team) North (Step by Step FC, Queen’s Park FC, St Ann’s Rangers FC and Tobago All Stars) and South/Central (Debe High, Point Fortin Pioneers, Ministry of Sports School and St Mary’s Central Utd) will officially begin on April 21.

Some of T&T’s most prominent and upcoming women’s and girls’ football teams will be included, such as Secondary School’s Football League’s dominant force in the South Zone—Debe Secondary—and East Zone’s Tunapuna Titans. The North Zone will feature a Tobago All Stars team, which is expected to field some of the top women in Tobago’s football.

Real Dimension FC will kick off its campaign on the second week of competition against Trincity Nationals, in the quest for the grand prize of $12,000 and a challenge trophy, on May 18. On, May 11, the opening day of the Premier Division, Trincity Nationals will battle Defence Force, at the Eddie Hart Ground, Tacarigua.

The fixtures for the competition, were released at the launch of the Wolf 2012 campaign at the VIP Lounge of the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo, yesterday.

During the launch, Director of Football and coach of the National Under-17 and Senior Women’s teams, Even Pellerud endorsed the competition, insisting that such leagues are pivotal in the development of a well-rounded women’s national team.

Pellerud noted with the absence of the league system, the scouting and selection of players through the schools’ system would have been insufficient in attaining the best quality athletes, who would not have otherwise been engaged in a competitive level of local football.

The opening of the league will take place at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella, on Saturday, with a march pass of all teams and a seven-a-side tournament.

The league, which has struggled with finances for several years, is receiving assistance from its first ever sponsor in TT Pro League club North East Stars owner/ president Darryl Mahabir. Mahabir has expressed a passion for the development of football. He has pumped over $50,000 into the league, all of which will be used for cash prizes. The league’s president Sharon O’Brien has also prodded for further corporate assistance.

Obviously didn't cover everything, why SWO members don't sponsor this Tourney on an annual basis,
10k TT+ incidentals,  I guessing 15 k , call it the SWO big Four challenge trophy, at 10 to 20 $ US per person, wouldn't we have something to left over to pass to the non- big four teams a small donation to help them stay afloat as well ?
Could someone possibly manage that T-man. I would be in, if we can manage.
I could cut back on few in the tavern, easy.. Can we ?
