Shabazz: Caledonia must believe in itself
ttproleague.comCaledonia remains in hunt for “vital” Concacaf Champions’ League Group Four points and will take on visiting Honduran club CD Marathon from 8pm at the Ato Boldon Stadium on Wednesday.
The 2012 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Champions were defeated 3-1 in their opening Group Four clash against Major League Soccer club Seattle Sounders on Thursday 2 August in Washington.
With just one club advancing out of the 3-team group home and away series, Caledonia must rebound by earning much needed points.
Technical Director Jamaal Shabazz, who didn’t travel to Washington for the opening game, remains adamant that his side needs to believe in itself and the right of playing at the Concacaf level.
He said, “Of course we have to up our game but I think it’s more mental than physical. Technically and tactically we are up to the task, but we must believe in ourselves more and in our right to be playing at this level.
I believe in this Caledonia squad. They have created history for the club and we are going to push them to give all that they have in this game. It’s vital for us to pick up points.”
