Connection lost 3-2. Very disappointing. Some of the ref. calls was fustrating the Connection players. But still disappointing. Shadon needs to find a team outside of TT or else he will end up like Britto.

He needs to increase his intensity and be more lethal in front of goal. He has had his overseas trials, but nothing so far.

I honestly am disappointed in Connection. If this is the best TT have, we in trouble. The game was end to end action.  At times their attack were good but too many times their passes in the final 3rd were intercepted. What drive me crazy, Xelaju run thru the middle like basket holding water.

Connection defense was shakey for free kicks and corners. The first 3 mins Xelaju got 4 corners. It was pressure, until the Connection defender mistimed a header and gave Jan no chance. Joevin Jones score the best goal of the night, though. Bullet from outside the area. He played mid-field. Maybe a good mid for the local league. Still not convince he can carry his play for international games. On the quick counter attack he is pretty good, but when it is time to control the middle, he is not convincing. maybe later in the season we will see it. Even though Connection were good with the fast pace game, some of the guys need to step up. Shadon is a good player but was out the game a lot. The boy has good first touch and appropriate speed, but he eh gelling with this team some how. The number 12, with a poney-tail dreds was quick and nifty but almost all his passes went to Xelaju players. Stewartie has to do something or he maybe toast.

Winless Connection, Caledonia hunt happy CONCACAF Champions’ League ending
ttproleague.com

Although having failed to qualify out of respective groups in the CONCACAF Champions’ League, winless W Connection and Caledonia are chasing happy endings in their final outing of the 2012 CCL on Wednesday night.

W Connection, with one point from three matches, hosts Mexican giants and ‘points hungry’ second positioned Chivas Guadalajara (3 points) from 8pm at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Trinidad in Group 8.

Connection are hoping to finish better than last week’s 3-2 defeat against group leader Xelaju MC (7 points) in Guatemala having played probably its best match of the CCL group stage.

And from 10pm in Honduras, Caledonia with one point to its name after three outings, takes on CD Marathon also with one point and in search of its first Group 4 win. Both teams played to a 0-0 draw in Trinidad last month.

A win for the 2011-2012 Digicel Pro League champs Connection and or Caledonia will definitely be a boost for Trinidad and Tobago football, but it’s surely going to be a tough task in attempting such a feat against their respective Mexican and the Honduran opponents.

“We are looking forward to the game against Chivas,” W Connection head coach Stuart Charles Fevrier told ttproleague.com on Tuesday.

“We like playing against opponents such as Chivas and teams of that level. Although we haven’t won a game in our three outings, we had a chance at winning in all three. We lost 4-0 in Mexico against Chivas, but we only gave away those goals in the last twenty-five minutes or so, of the game.

And against Xelaju in our last game we got back in the game twice. So we’ll be approaching the game (against Chivas) in a positive manner,” concluded the Connection coach.

Xelaju which came from behind to draw 2-2 against Connection in their opening match, leads Group 8 with 7 points, having defeated Chivas 1-0 in the first leg and Connection 3-2 in the second leg.

Meantime in Group 4, Major League Soccer club Seattle Sounders leads the group with 9 points and are safely into the quarterfinal round of the 2012 CONCACAF Champions’ League. Sounders defeated Caledonia by near identical 3-1 results in both home and away matches and finished 3-2 winners against Marathon in Honduras.

Caledonia headed by Coach Jamaal Shabazz and assistant coach Jerry Moe, departed Trinidad on Monday for Honduras with a 21-man squad—Aubrey David, Nuru Abdullah Muhammad, Colin Nelson, Aquil Selby, Trevin Caesar, Stephan David, Conrad Smith, Keyon Edwards, Cornelius Stewart, Abdallah Phillip, Kareem Joseph, Trayon Bobb, Walter Moore, Kerlon Ferguson, Densill Theobald, Jamal Gay, Kemron Purcell, Nathan Lewis, Sheldon Holder and goalkeepers Glenroy Samuel and Colin Edwards.

If you listen to Rix speaking, he honestly was surprised at the talent in T&T and was impressed with the physiques. He sees the problem totally as a mental one. A lack of self belief, self discipline, poor concentration span and fitness.  These are all things that can be learned from progressive, positive coaching. I am very hopeful of the T&T of the future once these issues can be addressed. If we can get together 30 14 year olds and keep them in a decent environment, T&T will qualify for 2026.

Concacaf CL Final

Anybody watch this 2nd leg game?
Monterrey just come back from 0-2 down to win 4-2 in the last 30 minutes.

This is their 3rd CL in a row. The stadium went bonkers on the go-ahead goal.

I feeling bad for Santos Laguna

2013/14 CONCACAF Champions League Draw

Group 1 Arabe Unido (Panama), Metapan (El Savador), W Conection (Trinidad and Tobago)

Group 2 Olimpia (Honduras), Sporting Kansas City (USA), Real Estelí (Nicaragua)

Group 3 Herediano (Costa Rica), Club Deportivo Victoria (Honduras) , Valencia (Haiti)

Group 4 Club America (Mexico), Alajuelense (Costa Rica), Sporting san Miguelito Panama)

Group 5 San Jose Earthquakes (USA), Montreal Impact (CANADA), Guatemala 2nd (TBD)

Group 6 Comunicaciones (Guatemala), Toluca (Mexico), Caledonia (Trinidad and Tobago)

Group 7 Tijuana (Mexico), Houston Dynamo (USA), Luis Angel Firpo (El Salvador)

Group 8 LA Galaxy (USA), Cruz Aul (Mexico), Club Sport Cartaginés (Costa Rica)

W Connection got themselves a nice looking group they can win. Caledonia will have a tough time in their group.

Controversy going on as the rules state a USA team and Mexico team can't be in the same group. Group 7 and 8 break those rules. That's CONCACAF for you.  :banginghead:

Caledonia a CONCACAF Champions League challenger
ttproleague.com

Caledonia AIA Technical Director Jamaal Shabazz has made it clear that the Morvant-Laventille club is not just making up numbers in a 24-team CONCACAF Champions League when the 2013-2014 season kicks off on August 6.

"Caledonia AIA didn't just qualify to participate," Shabazz said. "We fought hard for our place, we've made serious sacrifices, so I think our chances are as good as any other team this year."

Caledonia had its first taste of the Concacaf Champions League--the confederation's version of the UEFA Champions League--last season and finished at the bottom of a three-team group behind MLS outfit Seattle Sounders and CD Marathón of Honduras in the group stage.

Now after joining fellow TT Pro League club DIRECTV W Connection for a second consecutive Champions League, the Morvant-Laventille club is ready to stand up against the top clubs of Mexico, Central America, USA, Canada and the Caribbean.

Last season, Caledonia AIA by virtue of winning the 2012 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Championship, qualified for the Champions League, but this year, only did so by defeating Portmore United of Jamaica in a play-off to join Connection and Haitian side Valencia FC to represent the region.

Last year, the Champions League games hosted in Trinidad were poorly attended and Shabazz feels that CONCACAF should initiate a public awareness plan to better highlight the importance of the CCL to the teams and its supporters particularly from the Caribbean.

No, No! Jamal. That is your club, your sponsor and the pro-league job. Is your home game. How long you in this football business. You should have the whole of Laventille, Morvant, Barataria are your disposal. There is no Jabloteh anymore. Try and get some Croisee fans.
