still insufficient crowd, no rhythm section, mote noise by the straggling visitors than the locals.

That is to tell you the state we football has reached. I could guarantee to you that a whole generation of people never have been to a pro game. Also, LA left most of the "stars" back in Galaxy land. So we played their "2nd XI". We have a lot of improvement to do. At least Central has to improve drastically. There is always next year.
Well what will happen when we play USA in November? We better start advertising from now yes

Doh hold your breath, the TTFA cannot plan anything 10 days in advance.

What was the crowd attendance, anyone?

This was Central's game. They and the proleague are the ones who should be getting their fans to the game. TTFA should be in partnership to assist in anyway they can. But could you guys imagine Tim Kee calling FS and Sancho to help them advertise the game?

Deeks, we was referring to the T&T vs USA game.

The Hasley Crawford Stadium field needs a little work before that USA game, its very bumpy.

I would say about 4,500 fans was there.

Central really let that one get away.

I think Zoran Vranes should be brought back. Or take a gamble on Hutson Charles, I am sure he could work both positions as he is only part time with T&T.

That was disappointing but Central were looking fro trouble giving away so much possession in their half especially just outside the box.

How come the Express said it had a good turnout at the game.

Bruce Arena might want to rethink strategy the next time his team visits Trinidad and Tobago.

Arena, the LA Galaxy head-coach, did not believe he needed his stars to defeat Central FC. So, no Stephen Gerrard, no Robbie Keane and no Giovanni Dos Santos were in his team for Wednesday night's Scotia Bank Champions League match in Port of Spain — all rested for an upcoming MLS match against FC Dallas.

However, Arena looked a frustrated man all night, until his captain, USA international Alan Gordon, converted the Galaxy's only chance created in open play, to grab a valuable, late 1-1 draw before a good turnout of fans at Hasely Crawford Stadium

New Connection CEO confident ahead of play-off.
By Walter Alibey (Guardian).

W Connection’s new chief executive officer (CEO) Renee John-Williams is fancying her team’s chances of advancing to the Concacaf Club Championship this year.

Connection, the First Citizens Cup and Toyota Classic Cup champions will be host to Group One of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Championship on February 24-28 at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Balmain Couva, a group that will comprise names such as Guadeloupe’s champs Club Sportif Moulien, Suriname’s Inter Moengo Tapoe and Dominica Republic’s Atletico.

John-Williams, who took over from her father David, following his elevation to the post of president of the T&T Football Association (TTFA) told the Guardian: “I feel pretty confident about the group we have been drawn into.

“We have become accustomed to participating in the CFU Caribbean Club Championships almost every year with a view to compete in the CONCACAF Champions League. We will be hosting the group again this year and aim to always compete at a higher level against teams in the region and internationally.”

As far as John-Williams is concerned, their involvement in the CFU Club Championshiop and CONCACAF Champions League will augur well for her team as it will provide not only its players with much needed exposure to international football, but also the country and the region.

She feels the Savonetta Boys, as her team is affectionately called, and the T&T Pro League have earned the right to be considered strong competitors in the region based on their history.

Connection hosted the opening group round last year at the same Couva venue and cruised past the opening two rounds and into the CONCACAF Club Champions League where they were booted out by Deportivo Saprissa of Costa Rica and Club Santos Laguna of Mexico.

John-Williams (Renee) explained further she would not be taking any team lightly as all teams will pose defferent challenges.

“I expect that we will be challenged by all three teams,” she said.

“Atletico of the Dominican Republic are their current league champions. We have met Inter Moengoe Tapoe of Suriname in more than one editions of the tournament and they are a pretty strong opponent.” She said it was because of the strength of the Surinamese giants that her club was able to acquire striker Stafano Rijssel.

“We scouted striker Rijssel from Inter Moengo Tapoe a few years ago and he was a great addition to our squad. I can't comment much on the team from Guadeloupe, however they competed last year and secured a win in their group,” John Williams told the Guardian.

She said her team would again try to utilise home advantage, saying: “It is always easier to play at home in front of your fans and on a familiar field. It allows a more comfortable and controlled preparation without the challenges of having to travel and being unaware of the conditions you may meet as it relates to the field, accommodations, etc,” she said.

Apart from W Connection, another TT club Central FC will also be attempting to advance to the CONCACAF Champions League as they have been placed in group three along with Jamaican champs Montego Bay United FC and Scholars International from the Cayman Islands. This group will be played from February 24-28 Montego Bay Sports Complex.

The real measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out.

From Twitter.

Joevin Jones has seen a lot of the ball in this first half. He's taking advantage of plenty of space on the left side. #Sounders

Individual Awards Winners Announced for Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League 2015/16
CONCACAF

The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) revealed today the individual award winners for the 2015/16 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League season, following Club America’s victory over two legs against Tigres UANL in the Finals.

Following the final match Wednesday night at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, individual awards were presented in five categories:

Golden Glove for the best goalkeeper of the tournament, Scotiabank Best Young Player Award for the best under-20 player in the tournament, Jarritos Golden Boot to the season’s top scorer, the Golden Ball for the best player overall, and the Fair Play Award to the club which displays the best conduct on and off the field during the course of the tournament.

The Golden Glove Award for the top goalkeeper was presented to Hugo Gonzalez Duran from Club America. Gonzalez started three of the four group stage matches in addition to both quarterfinals and Finals, helping lead Club America to the title.

The Jarritos Golden Boot was awarded to Emanuel Alejandro Villa from Queretaro, the tournament’s top scorer with six goals.

Rubens Sambueza, the captain of Club America, provided seven assists during the course of the 2015/16 Champions League. He also added one goal and started nine games in earning the Golden Ball for the tournament’s top player.

Honduran Alberth Elis from Club Olimpia was named the Scotiabank Best Young Player. The 20-year-old scored two goals in group stage, and appeared in all four games for Club Olimpia. The forward is a rising national team star and was one of the standouts at the 2015 CONCACAF Men's Olympic Qualifying Championship.

The Fair Play Award was presented to Club Queretaro, for fair play on the field and excellent collaboration off of it during the course of the tournament.

With Wednesday night’s match, the 2015/16 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League draws to a close, and Club America will once again represent the region in the FIFA World Cup, to be played this December in Japan. The 2016/17 edition of the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League kicks off officially with the tournament’s live draw, May 30 in Miami, live on UDN.

The long distance is the really bad part. FS and them had to extend all means to go to Haiti for the CFU championship. Now they have to go to Vancouver and Kansas. let's see if the business community will come to their aid this time. They are the Champions of the Caribbean. Isn't that enough proof that this team is serious and need the kind of support for the next phase of this tournament. Or will they wait until they reach the final(I am being bold and confident, here) they will all come and put some money to have their logos on Central's shirt.

CONCACAF will award $1.2M in prize money to Champions League semifinalists
By Colin Stephenson, MLSsoccer.com

CONCACAF announced on Wednesday that a prize money pool of $1.2 million will be doled out to the semifinalists for the 2016-17 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League. The winning team will earn $500,000, with the runner-up earning $300,000 and the other two semifinalists taking home $200,000 each.

The prize money awarded to the semifinalists is a significant increase over what teams had been given before and is part of a larger investment of $5.5 million by CONCACAF into the 24-team Champions League competition. Much of the rest of that money will be earmarked for traveling expenses and other operating expenses.

“We understand that investment in the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League will pay dividends quickly, in further supporting clubs by compensating them for their monumental efforts and success in reaching the Champions League,” said CONCACAF President Victor Montagliani in a statement. “In speaking with and listening to our participating clubs and Member Associations, we understand the importance -- in addition to cash prizes for teams reaching the final rounds of the competition – of also supporting the clubs by increasing the travel stipend across the board, to help offset the rising costs of travel across the region.”

The draw for the 2016-17 tournament took place in Miami last month. The upcoming tournament's group stage play will begin in early August, with the full schedule set to be released in the coming weeks. Five MLS teams -- Vancouver Whitecaps FC, FC Dallas, New York Red Bulls, Sporting Kansas City and Portland Timbers are participating in the tournament. Club America of Mexico is the two-time defending champion of the competition, but did not qualify for the 2016-17 edition.

Part of the problem is that, financially speaking, it is not going to do the local business community much good to have their logos being displayed on the team shirts in Kansas and Vancouver. So at the end of the day I believe any support from the local business community for this campaign will be more about generosity and fostering goodwill than about sound financial/marketing investments.

Connection strengthens squad ahead of CCL kick-off.
W Connection Press Release.

Point Lisas, Couva. With just a two days before they kick off their first Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League match, DIRECTV W Connection FC has added quite a few new players to their roster.

Placing their focus on youth development, their youngest addition during the mid-year transfer window is Goal Keeper Denzil Smith, who, at 16 years old hails from the Siparia Spurs. Their new signings also include Anselm Jackson who has been a part of the Savonetta Boys’ program before, Jesus Perez from North East Stars, Daniel Diaz also of the Siparia Spurs, Shaquille John and Ronell Paul of Point Fortin Civic Center, Shackiel Henry and Mickell Charles of Palo Seco Football Club.

Connection will be without the services of their two marquee strikers Jomal Williams and Shahdon Winchester this season as they were transferred to Murcielagos FC of the Mexican Ascenso MX during the window. The Savonetta Boys kick-start their Champions League campaign next week Wednesday 3rd August at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva.

They face off against Mexican giants Pumas UNAM who they have met twice before in 2009, drawing 2-2 at home and losing 2-1 in Mexico. Interesting to note is that WConnection has lost only once at home to a Mexican team in the current Champions League format against Santos Laguna going under 2-1 in 2015.

Veteran Andre Toussaint, who formed part of the squad that played against Pumas in 2009 along with teammate Hughtun Hector, feels pretty confident about the team’s pre-season preparations and new roster additions

Andre Toussaint on the team’s preparations and outlook towards the game…

“The preparation has been good thus far. We’ve been doing high quality training since the start of the pre-season. Coming up to this game there has been a lot of competition in the team and I feel that we can come out with a positive result…Personally I feel fit…having played against this team some years ago and knowing the level we are supposed to be playing at, it will be a normal thing for me going into the game. For me I am looking to get revenge as we lost in our last game to them so my revenge will be to get a victory in this game.”

On the new additions Toussaint added, that having a few of the younger player that have played at the national youth level such as Shackiel Henry brought added quality to the squad.

Connection’s Isaiah Hudson who turned 16 mere days ago will be eyeing a possible SCCL debut, hoping to follow in the footsteps of former teammates Shahdon Winchester and Keston Julien who both made their Champions League debut at 16 in 2009 against Honduras’ Real Espana and Mexico’s Santos Laguna respectively.

Technical Director Stuart Charles Fevrier on this possible selection…

“Isaiah has demonstrated that he has the ability to play at the highest level in our training sessions, training games and local official games, hence the reason why he may get this opportunity. I am confident that he will do well once selected.”

The Savonetta Boys are also giving their fans a chance to win a trip for two, all expenses paid, to see Chelsea FC vs. Manchester United live from the Stamford Bridge stadium when they purchase their tickets for next Wednesday’s Champions League Game. Fans can visit their Facebook page for further details.

W Connection FC’s SCCL 30 man roster is as follows

1.       Terrence LEWIS (Trinidad & Tobago)
2.       Kurt FREDERICK (St. Lucia)
3.       Gerard WILLIAMS (St. Kitts)
4.       Maurice FORDE (Trinidad & Tobago)
5.       Triston HODGE(Trinidad & Tobago)

9.     Neil BENJAMIN JR (Trinidad & Tobago)
10.   Anselm JACKSON (Trinidad & Tobago)
11.   Hughtun HECTOR (Trinidad & Tobago)
12.   Andre TOUSSAINT (Trinidad & Tobago)
13.   Alvin JONES (Trinidad & Tobago)
14.   Julani ARCHIBALD (St. Kitts)
15.   Jamal CHARLES (Grenada)
