What's the story with Jan Michael Williams ? I can't remember the last time I've seen his name in a starting lineup . Is he injured ? If he is what type of injury and when will he back ? At this rate I can't see him starting in September. That would be a big blow

Must admit, Cummings looking very good on the ball, cut above the rest. Central lack penetration though.

Remarkable comeback from adversity.

...with the quality of players that Dale Saunders have..I say he is a Boss Coach ..Dale Saunders is one of the better coaches in the Concacaf...better than Charles...

Not a bad showing by Central ...maybe  some of his players are not fully mature in the game as yet...the goal was unlucky...the defenders did their best...but a more experienced defender wouldn't have been beaten for pace like that..

At this level the better players win football matches.

Whitecaps earn away win over Central FC.
CONCACAF.COM.

Cristian Techera scored in the first-half and the Vancouver Whitecaps launched the 2016/17 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League with a 1-0 victory over host Central FC in Group C on Tuesday night at Ato Boldon Stadium.

Spencer Richey made five saves for the Whitecaps (1W-0L-0D, 3 points), who secured their first-ever SCCL road victory after three attempts in a match between teams making their second appearances in the tournament.

At 15-years and nine-months old, Alphonso Davies made history when he came on as a second-half substitute for the visitor, becoming perhaps the youngest player ever to feature in a SCCL match.

Central FC (0-0-1, 0) outshot Vancouver, 12-8, but couldn’t convert that advantage into dangerous scoring opportunities, especially after halftime.

It was the Trinidad side’s first home loss in the competition after a win and a draw in last year’s group stage. The Sharks host Sporting Kansas City in Week 2 on August 16, before finishing its group stage with two road matches.

Techera was active down the left wing throughout the opening half and was rewarded for his efforts in the 34th minute.

Erik Hurtado created the opening when he dashed past two Central defenders on the left side of the penalty area. Then he dragged a cross back for Techera to drive a deflected shot off a defender on the goal line and into the net.

Central’s best chance of the half came deep into stoppage time, when Richey dove to his right, denying Leston Paul’s blast from the edge of the penalty area. A Vancouver defender lunged just in time to deny Darren Mitchell’s rebound attempt from the left.

Five minutes after halftime, Nathaniel Garcia also came close for the current Caribbean champion, only for his 25-yard attempt to blaze just over the crossbar.

Vancouver looked more likely to score late as goalkeeper Javon Sample reacting well to thwart Davies and Kianz Froese in the closing stages.

Ettienne is a waste.

Gabriel eh have much ball sense.

Villaroel look decent.

Paul and Garcia play some neat football, but to dull to play together in de center, they style is de same, they needed to move Chucky in de center and move Garcia or Paul on the wing.

A unfit Cummings who eh play in over a year was Central best player.

Nicholas Dillon is a pile of shit, no wonder Vancouver eh sign him.

Dale Saunders cah coach. De team eh know what to do in de final third of de field and de defenders eh communicating with each other and with de keeper.

Vancouver eh nothing special.

Central should try this line up for they next game.
Sample
Villaroel
Goodridge
Ettienne
Garcia
Mitchell
Paul
Cummings
de Silva
Marcano
Kenwyne

Game was nothing special. vancouver played within themselves because they had a game over the weekend and have on this weekend in the MLS. They played some reserves.

Still the game was there to be won for Central

I disagree with Sam as I thought Dillon should have been switched to cf because of his size. He is still young and can only improve

Paul and garcia are good players, bu very similar. they were no threat because De Silva did not really create anything as the attacking mid. for the most part he looked off the pace.

Ettienne is a wildman. No composure at all.

Chucky had a decent game

As Sam said, central look like they are clueless in the attacking third

Sample is ordinary

Marcus Joseph came on and was by far the worst CFC player. very predictable and lost the ball numerous times.

On another note, Jan is still injured. The sling is off though. But he has not been active for months so Im not sure he will be there September.

Jay10, Central coulda win de game, but de kinda shit style they playing against a reserve team is pure madness.

Vancouver go play them in de coldest part of Canada and beat they c00ont proper when they go Canada.

Win yuh home game, yuh cah have teams coming in yuh country with a second string team and taking away 3 points and yuh playing like yuh eh sure.

Central is de Caribbean champs and they playing like a semi-pro team. They cah even connect 4 passes.

They have Marcano as a lone forward, running all ova de place, how he go score?

Simple one touch football and keep it on the ground does work so nice. Central have no off ball movement.

Not that I complaining, but they have money to pay Kenwyne, Keron and Carlos but they cah play a few warm ups?

They should not compete in de CCL then, because they know about these games a long time now.

Stop with de excuses.

Keron Cummings eh play a game in ova a year and he look de best on de side.

Play de ball man and stop with this 4-5-0-1-0 formation.

Derek King woulda do a better job.

De defenders stagnant and not helping go forward.

De wing men wasting de ball except for Chucky.

De lone striker eh know if he playing midfield, defending or shooting.

Garcia only playing one way and one direction.

Ettienne eh have no ball sense.

De keeper killing time when he get de ball and Central loosing...  :rotfl:

Dillon big for nothing.

Villaroel doh leave he post for nothing, so a big gap between he and Chucky is left.

Williams hasn't had a good second half but Connection did not deserve to collect a 4th. I believe there were positives tonight for Connection, more than Central's game yesterday. But early days for both teams.

:cursing:I am fed up of hearing how Charles so great,,,his football is so good..I am fed up!!!W Connection plays too slow..their defensive tactics are much to be desired...their senior players are never fit..and they have no strategy to counter attack..

I am tired of Stewart Charles Fevrier and his less than mediocre brand which John Williams loves so much..it is about twenty years of the same frustrating brand of football year after year...ENOUGH iS ENOUGH :banginghead: :banginghead:

Every year I say this. If you keep sending yourbest players to Europe and Asia, there's only so much of a void the youths can fill.

WC has been promising and dropping short like this for the last five years or so. But it was not always like that ... from2004-2010 they were not always a walkover team.

I understand they need revenue but they are like an England 2nd div side. selling their best and spinning their wheels.
